My new T2K Theme Song

This goes with the theme that Jason Weiser explored in his "Hawkins, IN in Twilight 2000" thread - an alternate history of a Cold War future rooted in the 80's, or, more correctly at this point in time, 80's nostalgia.

For me, this cover song perfectly captures my current self looking back on my 1986 self imagining a small military unit in a future World War III. (Yes, "Tour of Duty" was must see TV for my middle school buddies and I!)

I use music in my games and this will be my new theme song!

Marching of to war by Motorhead is definitely on my list.

Those are some great post-TDM lyrics and you can't ever go wrong with Lemmy. Adding that one to my soundtrack - thanks!

It's probably cliché but I played Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls" to accompany the start of a large scale battle. I bent the rules and gave the attackers (which included two Mi-24's and several armored vehicles - thank you Zvezda and Team Yankee models) three turns to every one for the PC during the length of the song. It really created a chaotic atmosphere for the PCs - lot's of fun!

I'm fond of some Southern Hard Rock myself

We had a thread somewhere about T2K soundtracks. I'll see if I can dig it up and merge it with this one when I get home.

Miami 2017, by Billy Joel would be perfect for an Armies of the Night campaign. It describes a NYC consumed by some fiery cataclysm that could come straight out of a boffo T2K.

My apologies, please merge them! And thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in reserve if we get to Armies of the Night!

What your recommendation for the crew of an M1 from the 256 BDE called Texarkana Rebel?

It's not a rockin' song, but "Cotton Fields" by Creedence Clearwater Revival mentions Texarkana by name.

While on a Billy Joel theme, and just in time for the Twilight War, "We Didn't Start the Fire"

Thank you! I looked it up on youtube and it fits perfectly for this crew. The PC's BN has two tanks left at this point, one is "Texarkana Rebel", the other is "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos". The joke is the respective crews are country boys from an LANG unit from the Texarkana region for the former and city boys from an armory in New Orleans for the latter. They have a friendly rivalry and generally the way the PCs set up their task org for big fights leads to one PC giving directions to one M1 and the other PC giving directions to the other. It's made for some funny moments. Texarkana Rebel currently has bragging rights thanks to a "what the hell?!" shot with the main gun hitting a moving Mi-24 at extreme range, (roll was a 01 roll on a d00 with the chance to hit 01-05 after all modifiers - I actually went through the hit location and damage rules in Free City of Krakow to the letter and did enough damage to bring it down).

That's interesting, I never thought about it that way but upon reflection that song can be viewed as a warm up for either what happened in T2K (WW III) or needing a whole bunch of new verses for real life (9/11, Iraq War, Great Recession, Arab Spring, ISIS, Obama, Trump).
