The U.N. in T2K

We must have a thread dedicated to this topic hiding around here somewhere but I can't find it.

What would happen to the U.N. during the Twilight War? How would it handle the Soviet attack on China? How would it respond to West Germany's invasion of the DDR? How could it respond? What, if anything, does canon have to say about the United Nations?

According to the v1.0 timeline, North Korea attacks the ROK on 12/19/96. I'm curious as to how the U.N. would respond to this in particular, especially given that WWIII in China and Europe was already underway.

I am not sure we have ever had a good discussion focused on the UN. It has shown up many times as a side discussion or tangent.

Is the best I can find.

Even searched the database for thread titles with 2 letters (UN). Only thing there is if the UN would handle the DPRK vs ROK conflict.

Not surprised you forgot them. From a pretty dark time around here.

I'm not sure there is a UN left to do anything by then, at least per the V1 timeline.

Quote:

A demilitarized zone (DMZ) had been established in the Golan Heights following the '87 war. This DMZ was occupied by a UN Peacekeeping Force. When the UN General Assembly fell apart in June of 1995, these troops were left out on a limb.
Page 3, RDF Sourcebook.

EDIT.
Bleh, should have red the threads Kato linked first. Jason Weiser already referenced that quote. And there's a follow up conversation about how 'fell apart' may not have automatically meant the end of the UN.

It's deader than radioactive tank tops.

One of the few references I've seen to UN activity was in the NATO Combat Vehicle Guide, which showed an APC in UN colors described as part of a (Canadian? My copy's not handy right now) Peacekeeping Force in Sri Lanka.
