Default Proposed Team Loads

Or... "THE MOTHERSHIP CONCEPT"

I believe that all teams (and especially Recon teams) have a primary task to COLLECT information and CONVEY information. This could range from geological surveys to briefing a Regional HQ to addressing a Town Hall meeting. Without that flow of information, Reconstruction will be impossible.

Therefore, for most of their duties, the individuals need carry only enough firepower for personal defense. If they need more weapons, they can get them from their team vehicle or "mothership" which acts as a mobile arms room.

What the individual team members have in the way of weaponry

1. Pistol (concealable and always carried) PLUS 2 MAGS OR SPEEDLOADERS
2. Carbine (the Stoner M23, if you use canon) PLUS 6 MAGS
3. collapsible baton (concealable and always carried)

(Remember, additional ammunition, grenades and heavy/specialist weapons like LAWS are carried on the vehicle and assigned as necessary)

Individual "gear"

Basic Load (as canon) plus
  • Wristwatch & wristwatch cover
  • "Filofax" TM style notebook & several pens
  • Multitool (small) (swiss army knife, Leatherman micra or equivalent)
  • binoculars (small) (Zeiss make a nice pocket-sized 8x20)
  • small survival kit (includes fishing and sewing kits)

TEAM LOAD

note: all this is carried on the team vehicle ("mothership")

Vehicle Supplies (AS CANON, PAGE 32)
Plus:
  • Shotgun (pump-action)
  • HK69 plus 20 rounds 40mm (or revolver-style multi-grenade launcher)
  • Complete Stoner Weapons Kit
  • Rolls of Duct Tape (10) (can't rebuild civilization without duct tape)

comfort gear:
  • Spare footwear for each team member (1 pair boots, 1 pair sneakers)
  • Sleeping bag liners (24) (much easier to launder than a whole sleeping bag)
  • Spare socks/underwear (5 sets per team member)
  • Large MedKit

observation/surveillance/communication gear:
  • Bullhorn
  • Spotting scope (works with the tripod that canon assigns to all vehicles)
  • Camera (this is going to vary according to your time period)
  • handheld CB radio
  • handheld "motorola" radio - same type as used by nearest Emergency Services in Team's Area of Operations (AOO)

Stationery
  • Maps of AOO and surrounding states
  • Boxes of pens/pencils (100 each)
  • Notepads (lined) (100)
  • Business Cards (box of 500) (don't laugh. these are surprisingly useful tools)
  • Survey Forms (Recon Team is supposed to collect information, but canon doesn't give any way for it to collect/collate/record this information)
  • Yellow Pages for AOO (even if phones are out, lists addresses for buisnesses and organisations. The planners don't know that it's going to be used to start campfires)
Information gear
  • A/V projector (connect to laptop - or probably microfilm if you use canon)
  • Laser printer and several reams of paper
  • microfilm, CDs or DVDs loaded with Manuals, textbooks, "how-to" pamphlets - all capable of being printed or displayed

Comments are invited.
