A is divided roughly into 5-6 general zones.
NORTH : a confederation of heirs aligned in the common cause that the man in the library tower is an impostor and should be fought -the question of succession is not settled among them either .A typical two act piece if ever there was one
West : The would be usurper Zorg George Michael Pain ( named by both his parents independently) and his loyal EndoGuard ,mostly former Pretorians and loyal auxilliaries.With his legitimacy as the oldest son and the emergency powers he has been able to utilize the 14 year old has taken control over a sizeable chunk of land and resources .His issues with daddy runs deep.This is one serious teenage trouble.

east :unconsolidated ganglands -a multitude of small and big gangs fighting eachother as much as everyone else

south : marauders and petty warlords robbing what they can and trying to copy Gen Pain and jis friends way to the top by building cantonments.Unconsolidated - largely.

Interspersed and strewn about the map are small groups of survivors and communes that try to make it .They live of whatever they can , primitive farming,all sorts of animals are eaten-and they do sometimes rob someone that wont be noticed when he doesnt return.

General Pains disaster contingency plans allowed for the situation LA is in now.Storages with supplies and caches of resources are sprinkled about the city to facilitate the defense in case of siege and/or occupation by MilGov or anyone else.The various factions are busy helping themselves to the contents.

Nicknamded bunkersfield - the city is a smoking nuke crater sitting on top of a myriad of tunnels and bunkers. Its environs are heavily mined and dangerous to traverse without sanction from Col. Sanchez.

Civil war rages in the tunnels between the men of Col. Sanchez and a variety of rebels trying to oust him.

The situation is yet to be determined.

The city is independent, organized and nominally allied with Eureka against the NDP.

The city has a governing council and a battle hardened militia with some heavy weapons.

The environs are prone to NDP patrols and a continuing low-level war steadily takes it toll on the city.

city of Avenal is only a collection of fortified compounds nominally allied against marauders. They cooperate but do not have a common leader. The compounds all respect NDP authority - anything less than obedience will mean attacks by the NDP. There is little trade surplus but occasionally a good harvest means oats, corn and alcohol can be had.

Visalia is an independent city of more than 3000 inhabitants all counted.
The city does a brisk trade in services and goods and have trade surplus in farm produce and stock. Visalia is well known for its medical services and cottage industries.

Its militia was well armed and well supplied up until recently when renewed fighting with the evicted NDP resumed.It is believed that personal animosity from NDP chairman Haussmanntowards visitors in the town were the casus belli. Also a third party has begun encroaching the valuable lands around the city from the mountains, claiming to serve the "King of the mountains".

The cites status is precarious and it is expected to either submit to its adversaries as it undergoes a loose siege from the NDP in the west and "King" in the east.
