Default Semi-OT Any good video channel recomendations.

For months I have debated recommending this one here.

This one might seem a little weird. A muppet with a Russian accents goes over the results of fictional modern combat. Odd premise but I have learned things.

Binkov's Battlegrounds

The channel's recent discussion of the Koreas/China and a reviews of US/Russia Nuclear capabilities pushed me over the threshold as to its relevance.

Neat.

Realized I should probably discourage overly political blogs, but tech, scenarios, weapons, equipment, vehicles, history, alt history, etc all seem fair game.

As someone who was obsessed with Victory at Sea when I was under 10 and really misses the old History Channel I have found some stuff on Youtube can fill those voids.

Forgotten Weapons

It also has a companion YouTube Channel

Although most of the weapons covered aren't going to show up in a T2K campaign, the videos are fascinating to watch for the history and different technical approaches in firearms development.

Most featured weapons are in auction houses, so the host is obliged to give a bit of promotion in return for getting to play with the gun, but it's nothing excessive.

As an example, here is a Brazilian SMG from the 1980's:

https://www.forgottenweapons.com/the...in-simplicity/

And here is a custom combination gun from before WWI:

https://www.forgottenweapons.com/a-u...mbination-gun/

I already knew what all the guns in battlefield 1 were before that game even came out because of Ian.

Default Channel's Worth Checking Out

Since you have already covered the staples (Bloke on the Range, InRange, and Forgotten Weapons), I'll add some other YouTubers.

My first recommendations would be about equipment:

Forgotten Weapons I do want to recommend Ian's videos on Flamethrowers. They are definitive works on these weapons. His video on the M1 Rifle Grenade Launcher will also add quite a bit of knowledge about rifle grenades.

The Wound Channel has done a number of tests involving Barrier Penetration and Armor Penetration testing. He was one of the first Youtubers to discover that a round going faster than 3000ft/sec could penetrate an NIJ Level 3 Rifle plate.

MikeB is another Youtuber doing penetration testing mostly on older helmets. He can definitively say that most steel pots are equal to NIJ Level 2A in protection.

Shootingthebull410 has done some VERY EXTENSIVE testing on all types of ammunition. His tests are some of the most meticulous I've seen. I particularly like his AmmoQuests.

Lucky Gunner He has several good videos. His equipment reviews are good and his "how-to" videos are short, well made, and informative (if somewhat basic).

Military Arms Channel Tim has several good videos but I particularly liked his videos on Armor Testing and rating Suppressors with the Decibel Meter. He was also the first person to test the new Dyneema Vests that the Marines bought (Level3 Rifle SOFT PLATES).

Matsimus Gaming Matt is former British Army (now a Canadian resident) and has been doing a number of equipment reviews as well. Check him out because he does PACT equipment as well as NATO.

Pocket Guns & Gear Another reviewer of both pocket pistols and ammo. His videos are really good.

DEVGRU5022 He not only has good videos like fighting the T62 (an old TRADOC film) and the 551 Sheridan (TRADOC TOO), he has several videos like making the cut... Army Ranger, SEAL, Marine Scout/Sniper, and Army Sniper School. Check him out.

WOT: Inside The Chieftain's Hatch This former tanker employed by WOT the game goes to museums and gives a fairly detailed impression of the armor they have. A good channel.

Innerbark Outdoors Andy Tran has both equipment reviews AND "how -to" videos that are VERY GOOD. Check out his video on making cordage and his review of a new pair of night vision goggles.

Wilderness Outfitters I'm sure Dave Canterbury needs no intro (Dual Survival, Dirty Rotten Survival) but his channel may. He not only tells you how to acquire the "5 C's" of survival but also how to use those tools. A must watch for my fellow survivalists here.

Survival Lilly She also shows you the secrets to using the "5 C's" just like Dave does.

Primitive Technologies This man has a "Ph.D." in Survival Skills. I have never seen a more experienced primitive technology expert.

Primitive Pathways Another good resource for survival skills.

RPG vs Toyota This video shows the effects of an RPG-7 and B40 on a Toyota in detail. The Australians(?) in this video are fairly thorough in their evaluation. This video shows WHY the Burst Radius of my In-Game RPG-7 with a HEAT warhead is 2m (wide) X 4m (long).

Now on to Skills Development channels;

SweatNotBleed For those without formal pistol training, his upload of Shep's Precision Applications Pistol class will bring you up to speed without too much cost. Pay attention to how long it takes to perform tasks. A 5 or 6-second Combat Round is a LIFETIME in a firefight.

Handgun Combatives Dave Spaulding was one of my instructors and he still has A LOT to offer new shooters. Check him out.

OE TSC G&V I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS CHANNEL ENOUGH! It posts digital reenactments of major fights while trying to explain the reasons behind the participants' action there. This is posted in support of TRADOC but I'm NOT SURE if it is official TRADOC material. It is very instructional but may leave you wringing your hands when you realize just how many men have died from sheer incompetence in Command. If you can only watch one channel and you are a GM... WATCH THIS ONE!

Funker Tactical Not only do they have training videos, they also have War-Footage videos (mostly from Afghanistan). Another good channel for GMs.

Active Self Protection This channel is a must for cops, security, and CCW holders. It shows and analyzes video gunfight footage. There are about 8000 vids with commentary about what went right and what went wrong. John is a good guy and this channel will show you just how fast things can go bad.

Paul Harrel Paul's channel is professional and unassuming. His tests and analysis are unbiased. I LOVE the "Meat Target" as a more real-world test of bullet performance. Check Paul out.

RangerUp and BRC Coffee Aside from being a funny channel (guy taping himself to a plane "this is 100mph tape right? "Yeh, but the plane goes 200mph..."), they have to videos at RangerUp I have to recommend. Not Another Cop Drama and 5 Things Military Movies Get Wrong. Please watch these and Stupid Shit Veterans Hear All The Time.

There's a short list from my own research library...developed during the ALL-TOO-FREQUENT "waiting to load/unload delays of trucking" (the one profession where "hurry up and wait" rivals the Army).

Swag

I'll add the following channels as well:

Military Weapons: While he has some issues with pronunciation (like calling HIMARS "he-mars"), the channel isn't too bad. It is a LOT better than several other channels and doesn't really make "judgments" on equipment being good or bad. He also features PACT equipment which is a good thing.

Documentaries: "..." Uploads of documentaries from what I'm guessing are mainly NATGEO and AHC channels. I'm currently trapped by the blizzard in the Allegheny National Forest so I binged on the "No man left behind" series.

NGRef: Another youtuber uploading war stories to the web. These are not ones I've seen on NATGEO or AHC before.

Funker530 Veteran community videos: this is where FunkerTactical has archived most of their war footage videos.

Enjoy....

A "snowed in" Swag...

The NATGEO Channel seems to have taken over for the History Channel. The American Heroes Channel also helps fill in the gaps too. It is a shame that Discovery, History, and TLC have become reality tv havens. I miss the days when you could actually LEARN something from them.

TCM--Turner Classic Movies- just watched a film I saved on DVR--The Mountain Road, starring Jimmy Stewart as Major Baldwin, Harry Morgan as his top sergent, and a handful of US Army Demolition Specialists in WW2 China given the task of destroying anything the advancing Japanese Army might find useful, as well as bridges, roads and other structures whose removal would delay the enemy. A retreating unit, interacting with an unfamiliar and at times problematic populace and its (supposedly) friendly and cooperative military, constant potential of bandit ambush or enemy contact, language and cultural differences, and a mission that not everyone is enthusiastic about. Did I mention the sick GI who is a constant drag on the unit and of no functional use to the mission? or having to switch interpreters when something happens to yours? Or the pretty intense assault on an enemy (but _not_ Japanese) position? This tight little film has a lot to steal from for a campaign.

I have to add another new Channel to the List. Patrick, YouTube's Favorite "Tactical Leprechaun," has opened his own Channel after a falling out with TBF TV. That channel is called The Firearms Rack. Check it out.

I also forgot to list Iraqveteran888's YouTube Channel. I really get a kick out of his "How far..." videos.

I also want to "bump" Matsimus Gaming's YouTube Channel again. He just uploaded a new Russian ADA system that entered service in the mid 90's. Check him out.

You guys might want to check out GunGuyTV on Youtube. He has a VERY GOOD video on Laser Sights on his uploads.

Also, Check out the new video posts (from SEVERAL sources) of the new MK6 Patrol Boat (85ft/26m). With an 11-man crew, a range of 500NM, two MK38 25mm Cannon and a draft of just 1.2 meters it is the perfect vessel for a PT Boat style campaign.

Ok, guys;

Here's a vintage video on fighting the T64 and T72. This is my first ever YouTube upload so here goes...

https://youtu.be/sZ6QNWo6M0g

Please rewind the video when you're finished with it.

Swag.

PS: You might have to rewind it a bit yourselves. Apparently, it posted from where I was in the video when I wrote down the link I copied in. Lesson learned.

This video would be more for a V2.2 Litoral setting or a Merc2000 campaign but I think the MK6 Patrol Boat is cool so here's a video on it by Defense Web TV on YouTube.

https://youtu.be/3CzUsKwolLg

Swag.

I'll be damned if I can get this link to work. Just search Youtube for MK6 Patrol Boat and find Defense Web's video. If you can fix it Kato feel free!

C&Rsenal is a great resource for World War I firearms. They review the history of each firearm and take it to the range. Mae, their shooter, is the height of the average soldier from the Great War, so it gives a sense of proportion. The videos range from relatively common stuff like Lebels and Mausers to oddities and rarities like the Air Service Rifle and the Pedersen Device.

Here's my third attempt to post a YouTube link.

This one's about the new OshKosh Medium Tactical Vehicle and its participation in the Baha 1000.

https://youtu.be/NagPvk1Hlak

At least this one works.

I actually watch his stuff all the time. (To contradict all the experts, watching YouTube videos actually makes me drowsy and I generally fall alseep in less than an hour, which is much better than how long it took me with a quiet and lightless room...)

I'm not going to post a link due to copyright issues but I would recommend you do a YouTube search for the title RESTREPO. This video is based on a US unit serving in the most dangerous region of Afghanistan and is shot in the first person. It is named for "Doc" Restrepo who was killed there.

Just search for RESTREPO and several hits will pop up.

Here's a great channel for WWII https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfZ...SJ2rtcEJHM2kCg
VERY informative, and VERY well researched. Some may not agree with his assessments, but he's also very keen to enter into a discussion about them.
