Default T2K on eBay

Having stupidly unloaded all of my T2K stuff back in college ("The Cold War's over; I'll never use any of this stuff again..."), a couple of years ago, I replaced most of it using eBay.

Anyway, I can't seem to make any sense of the prices listed for some T2K items. I wonder who sets these prices. Obviously, supply and demand has something to do with it, but I wonder who determines what the available supply is and what the demand is for it. I can't image that demand for a 25 year old Cold War RPG is that high, but some of the prices seem to suggest that it is.

For example, I'm looking for a copy of the RDF Sourcebook. They start at $22.

I wouldn't mind having a copy of the v1 NATO Vehicle Guide. They start at $44!

On the other hand, some of the adventure modules are going for around $3.

So, if you need a few bucks and you have a copy of either of the above, put it on eBay.

There is an RDF sourcebook in a lot with a 1st ed. box set that is currently going for $15. Cheaper than your $22 if it holds for the next day. I have a dupe of the NATO guide that I've been meaning to put up. It's a bit ratty and came with a mixed lot I bought a couple of months ago. Priced with the rest of the lot, it averaged out to about $10, but I've seen the NATO guide listed at over $70 in one ebay store.

Like any thinly traded market the prices for this stuff on ebay are highly variable with supply and demand that week. If you have three or four people bidding, books can go for $40. If it's slow, mint copies can go for $.99. The lowest prices seem to be for the early items. I think everyone who played bought a copy of Krakow. That means a lot of copies out there and so low prices. The NATO guide was a low seller late in the series (perhaps the last before 2nd ed, but not sure) and so low volume keeps the prices up.
