Thread Tags

Ok these are a kind of interesting concept. Personally I like my thread=773]thread map[/thread] better but these could be useful.

What is comes down to is establishing keywords for a specific thread. I believe the thread creator can assign 5 words and any other user can assign 2 (I can assign 25 :D ). I can change those setting if needed.

I looked over the three most recent posts and came up with the following:

Locations
Oil
Europe
Maps
Rules

The tags get placed in the tag cloud (http://forum.juhlin.com/tags.php) after 30 min or so. The tag cloud is accessible under the search navigation tab via "tag search". I may end up standardizing them but please feel free to add tags to any threads you wish. I think to start with we should keep them generic as we are not dealing with 1000s of threads yet, but it will be interesting to see how this goes.

edit: The edit tag function should be near the bottom of the thread (below "post reply" but on the right). If it is not there let me know.

Another new thing I found is that as you type in the tag word, if there is an existing word with the same first 3 letters the system will provide a clickable gray box with the completed word. This will prevent misspellings of longer words. The PM system has a similar function. If you don't know the exact spelling of a user's name, enter the first 3 letters and the gray box will appear with the full name.

I see someone has added a few, cool. There certainly can be some use for this.

I am beginning to see the long term potential of this so I keep adding tags. We are moving in on 900 threads and 10,000 posts. This is in under a year. I am going to keep everything (unlike RPGhost) so anything that helps keep those numbers manageable for users is going to be a plus.

Anyone else who wishes to add tags feel free.

Most current tags. I did convert all the OOB to ORBAT. I originally choose OOB but someone else used ORBAT and I like that better.
