Got two questions for ya.
How detailed are you looking for, and are you just looking for combat/people encounters?

I have a list of encounters in my own Random encounter table. They are fairly brief and in my own kind of shorthand. Not every encounter is an "engagement" type. I think its a way of rewarding PCs for having skills other than combat related ones.
Random Encounter 1
Possibly lost – take a navigation check
D6
1-2 NAV +1 level easier, fail means your lost
3-4 navigation roll (12)
5 navigation roll +1 level harder
6 navigation roll, +2 levels harder
Compass, guide or being familiar with an area makes the check one level easier.

Loose an item - an item has been lost/misplaced.
Number each item your carrying on your person and in your bags 1-XX
Roll D20 or D100 to randomly determine which item is lost.
Your ref may need to be creative about how it became misplaced.
More than one item may be lost!
D6
1-3 single item
4-5 D6 items
6 all items not tied to person
#3
Random fatigue check
D10 v CON
Failure (rolling higher than CON) means you take 1 level of fatigue in addition to any other fatigue levels.

Interesting. I don't know how many exercises I've been on where something goes missing, yet I never thought of it for the game.
I like to do nav checks often myself, modifying it depending for road, x-country, day, night, terrains, etc. As like you said, not all encounters are combat.

Exactly. The idea came to me while i was camping and couldnt find something simple, wasnt were i always keep it. I was so angry, couldnt believe something so simple had happened. Then blam, it occurred to me it would make a great entry on the random encounter table. I'm sick, i know.
