Bored at work and thinking of the next stage of the T2k campaign I run.
Armies of the Night - I missed this one out of the normal chain because of its extremely open format. My players will give me nightmares...but I decided to stop being a coward and go for it.
If anyone else is bored enough, I am open to ideas that may 'tighten up' or improve on this. I just need something more linear to stop my players turning Manhatten more chaotic than it already is.

How about tightening the focus on getting the gold. There is a lot of background on the neighborhoods and politics that there really isn't that much need for in a more straight in and out mission. If you make it easier for them to find it they can focus on how the hell to get it out of there. Maybe they're even sent in with a convoy survivor and they only need to confirm that the gold has not been moved from its original resting place. The census and salvage aspects of the mission have always been clearly crap orders and to be ignored.

Yea - I suppose I can keep them nudged toward the Gold mission and they can return another time to go crazy.

I heard this song last night for the first time in a long while and it reminded me of Armies of the Night and canon's description of NYC during the Twilight War.

I always thought of the songs "New York, New York" and "Winter Wonderland" playing in the background during some of our more violent or creepy encounters during Armies of the Night. Kinda slo-mo scenes, subdued audio with the music playing over it. Ironic, and I suppose a little Tarrantino-esque.

Or "Music of the Night" with some of the words changed...
I've always had this weird idea of Julie Andrews on a hilltop singing, "The hills are alive with the sound of gunfire," and then she gets cut down by a machinegun burst...

I never got to run Armies of the Night. I fully intended to -- that was the module I had ready for that night. Then the group barely went into Manhattan, hotwired a hot rod and a pickup, looked around...and left again. On the way out, they found a shot-up military convoy; the leader of the group used the insignia of one of the dead soldiers and promoted himself from Staff Sergeant to Major. (In T2K, there's really no way for others to check if he's really a Major...)

Played the 1st session and the players fluked it...
They landed at night and see a farmed area with guards - they decide (with no basis) that whoever runs such a nice operation must be a decent group to link up with and go over to ??chat. Amazingly they hit on the right group and now are linked up with a nice powerbase and some structure so they wont go on a rampage :) Some clever negotiation helped them too.
Player ' Yea, we are from the Milgov but this is Manhatten's last chance - they have sent in many groups before and none returned so this is the last throw of the dice before they remove this pain in the arse with a 'bang'.. '
Leader ' they would never do that'
Player ' /shrugs (difficult act/bluff success).. so, you gonna help us?'
Leader ' Well, there are a few things we could do to help each other'
