Coming out of self imposed exile because this is potentially a loss of very important resources.

Geocities will be closing October 26th 2009. I suggest everyone look over their bookmarks and download those things that might be important to them. The mad dash to do so will potentially restrict access as sites hit their daily limit so I felt this announcement should be made as soon as possible.

There are quite a few geocities links found on this forum as well (you can search for "Geocities")

Going back into exile now. Not sure when I will be returning.

Do you know of a good, free program that will archive websites?

Just discovered that http://reocities.com/ saved a portion of the old geocities content. As anyone comes across geocities links, please check to see if the content was saved by just changing the "geo" to "reo" in the link. If it works post an update.

I will go through and test all the links at some point but I just wanted to mention it now in case someone comes across one before then.

Try 100megs.com. I'm one of the paid customers, but Reuben (the owner) is really good to his customers, both paid and free. (I was one of his first 20 paid customers, and I get a really good deal because of it, but his paid packages are still fantastic value for the money.)
