Since a little more than one spam bot per day was cracking the perimeter I decided a change was needed.
Upon registration and update profile you now need to answer the following question.
Testing if you can read (i.e. not a computer).
In this sentence, what is the last word?
The answer is simply "word" (minus quotes).
However since I have made the change there have only been a few posts. So can you a few people make sure that whatever change I made did not effect anyone's ability to post and post a response to this message.
Thanks

Meh, it's a quiet time of year, doubt there'll be too many posts for a few days (hangovers take time to recover from after all).

Ok that makes me feel better that I did not break things. Thanks guys.
Still will not feel totally confident until we get a new member, but that has been slowing down as of late as we have already got most people who are interested.
It does appear to have worked on the spammers, as I would have expected 2 or 3 during this time using the previous verification system.

Thanks for this Kato - you're doing an awesome job giving us a sane place (away from spammers) to chat, and we all appreciate it!

Happy New Decade Everybody
We got our first new member "gieskj01" so my fears were probably unfounded. Not sure they will be a regular member as they appeared focused on my gaming site, but I can hope.

Technically it's not a new decade until the beginning of 2011.
The 21st century didn't start until the 1st of January 2001.
Don't believe me? It's basic maths - count 100 years from year zero and tell me when year 101 starts....

IMO the 60s did not end December 31st 1970. And the "Zeros" do not end December 31st 2010.
You are making an assumption about decade. It just means ten years. Just as I can say that persons #18-#29 in a line are a dozen and that is correct. Even though the number in front are not evenly divisible by 12.
If I said happy 201st decade in the currently accepted Gregorian Calender system you would be totally right of course.

Like I said, it's just a technicality. Believe what you will, but mathematically there's only one right answer no matter what we may want to think....
Interesting observation on human perception is all.

Okay, I know there's people saying the new millenium didn't start until 2001. That's fine. But really...are people trying to say that the year 1970 is part of the 60's decade? The decade of the 60's include every year starting with a 196X. Just like every year of the 20's decade in the 2nd millenium with start with 202X. There's no way, no matter what "mathematics" suggest, that a completely different number could be part of another, lower, grouping.
When I say I've got "twenty some odd dollars", does that ever indicate I've got 30 bucks? When a person say's they're in their 20s, do you assume they're not at least 20 years old? And do you take it to mean they can be up to 30 years old when they say they're in their 20's?
Sure, we can get "technical" and use things that scream in the face of what makes sense, but why nitpick?
So welcome to the second decade of the second millenium A.D.
