James1978 03-15-2004, 06:04 PM I've heard that the Canadian Forces had a major modernization planned that got cut when the Cold War ended. I think new tanks, IFVs, and possibly attack helicopters were desired. Anyone care to guess what a 1996 T2K 4CMB would look like?

thefusilier 03-15-2004, 09:49 PM We have LAV IIIs and modernized Leopard Is that would be available by 1996. In addition we build our Lavs and variants in Ontario which wasnt on the nuclear stike list. We also have a great Lav recce variant that was requested by the US for operations in Afganistan.

Louie 03-15-2004, 11:12 PM OK guys the following is fromTHE ROYAL CANADIAN ARMOURED CORPS: An Illustrated History.

The 1987 White Paper called for 250- 280 new tanks (narrowed down to the M1A2, Leopard 2, Challenger 1, Ariete, and LeClerc). The subsequent future planning study called "Corps 86" called for , after the full mobilization of the Militia, a Canadian Army Corp with the following:

- 2 mechanized divisions

- 1 armoured division

- 1 independent brigade group

- 1 artillery division

- 1 armoured calvary brigade

- associated corps troops

My question is how long would it take to get this corp in the field, any ideas???? 1st Canadian Division would be fully in the field (3 full brigades) with associated troops by April at the least.

shrike6 03-15-2004, 11:48 PM Actually they had a pretty lengthy and very detailed discussion about Canada in T2K over on the CoI forum. They discussed everything from Canadian nuclear power plants to Corps 86/ I Canadian Corps.
