kcdusk 10-26-2005, 03:51 AM The HK-CAW shotgun has a ROF of 10!

Is this correct? I find it hard to believe this shotgun has such a high ROF and magazine capacity (10). It is far and away the best weapon there is. I think its either a typo or very unbalanced.

Even the pump action ROF of 4 is pretty high.

Thoughts?

Targan 10-26-2005, 04:08 AM In original T:2000 most firearms were considered to fire in bursts of three shots, with shotguns being the exception, firing one shot at a time. So the real rate of fire for most non-shotgun firearms is three times higher than the listed number. That should put things in some perspective.

ReHerakhte 10-26-2005, 04:48 AM As a bit of real world detail, the CAWS is listed in Kevin Dockery's "Compendium Of Modern Firearms" as having the following rates of fire: -

Single Shot - 30 rpm

Automatic - 60 rpm

Cyclic - 240rpm

I don't use 1st Ed rules so I don't know how that all translates over but for something of a comparison, many of the pump-action shotguns are listed as having ROFs of 24 to 36rpm.

To put that into another perspective, the M60 machinegun has: -

Automatic - 200rpm

Cyclic - 550rpm

while the FN FAL is listed as: -

Single Shot - 60rpm

Automatic - 120rpm

Cyclic - 700rpm

and the M16A1 has ROF: -

Single Shot - 45rpm

Automatic - 150rpm

Cyclic - 800rpm

Lots of useless detail I know but I got bored and got gun nerdy :nerd:

Cheers,

Kevin

Targan 10-26-2005, 04:53 AM Kev, you're not gun nerdy, you rock. I have the blueprints for the H&K CAWS on my PC at home. It is one hell of a weapon. They should have put them into general production and issued every fifth NATO soldier with one. Great for home defence too, no doubt, but your home might need some rennovations afterwards.

Kev, this is must-have type information.
