I'm not sure if this has been mentioned on this forum but I only just became aware of it so I thought I'd let you all know. Apparently Loren Wiseman has undergone quadruple bypass surgery after suffering a major heart attack earlier this month and is recovering at home after being released from hospital. I want to extend my best wishes to Loren and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Given the state of modern medicine his chances should be very good. Plese send one imaginary gift basket to him from this poor FNG.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Now if you can only avoid those nurses who insist on a vitals update at 04 hundred. :p

Any surgery is a big thing. Throw in the heart or brain and well....

Here is a link to a post Loren made a couple of weeks ago talking about what happened to him: http://forums.sjgames.com/showpost.php?p=1033927&postcount=54 . In later posts he reveals that his illness has left him in bad financial shape, unable to earn much money and with medical bills totalling nearly $12,000 (not covered by medical insurance). In the post linked to above Loren has added a link to his homepage where there is a PayPal donation button. I know we are in difficult economic times right now but I urge you to help out with a donation if you can. Loren's work has brought us all a great deal of enjoyment and I feel that the donation I have made was the least I could do for such an icon of the RPG industry who has fallen on hard times.

If Kato or my fellow moderators feel that this post is inappropriate I'll remove it. Thanks in advance for your consideration and generosity guys.

Inappropriate!?

What's inappropriate about supporting members of one's family?
I'll be making a donation and hope there's many more to follow.

I feel his pain. Literally... I had a major heart attack and quadruple bypass three years ago, with a stroke following the surgery. I had to learn to walk all over again, and use a walker. Luckily, the stroke only affected me below the waist. Fortunately, I live in Canada, so my medical costs were nil, but now I'm on disability and in a Nursing Home.

$12, 000? Wow, that's adding insult to injury. I hope Loren can get back to work speedily, although the gaming industry is no way to pay off such a debt.. The gaming community needs more people like him. I wish I could donate to his account, but I'm unable to do so, so I'll just concentrate on sending him positive vibes and my best wishes.
