Merry Christmas & God bless you all (even you atheist!)
My daughter woke up right after I brought the bicycle & archery target in from the garage. I thought I'd have all kinds of time, she's NEVER woken up at 6 am in her life.

Merry Christmas, everyone! (...and happy belated Chanukah!)

Consider yourself fortunate, my friend. If only my kids would consistently sleep past 6am!

I'm an atheist, my brother's a Jew, my sister is an agnostic, my mother a lapsed Catholic...so Christmas is more a personal type holiday for me. My stepmonster actually gave me a check for $100 -- stunned the hell out of me!

Ah Texas- there is a reason why I miss living there. :)
The way the phrase "shall issue" is in both the concealed and machine gun licensing process is but one.

Make sure you tell all your friends too!:D
She's the most dangerous 9 year old I've met.
I started her on hand to hand soon as she could walk
She's never fired an actual firearm, but she can put some rounds downrange with an airsoft M4 & M1911.
Me nor her uncle can get past her defense with foam swords.
I've got her a Walther P22 pistol but I can't find a local pistol range that will let a 9 year old in. Her uncle has a cabin on the Brazos River I'm going to finagle an invite to as soon as it warms up some & we have time.
And she loves riding with me on my motorcycle.

A 9-year-old has her own P22 and Texas won't let me own a firearm? That's not fair!

Only if you count a 175 grand a good deal. :). According to the BATFE there is only one transferable (as in you and I can get if we pay the 200 buck tax, live in the right area, and can pass a bg check) 240 out there. A buddy was bidding on it years ago and was disgusted when the price hit a hundred.
Hrm... I sense a filk in the air... "On the first day of christmas my true love gave to me.. A M2HB..."

odd my convenience store cops keep saying all i need is a registered right side plate and a parts kit. (and considering how many MAG58 RSP's were made prior to the ban that ain't hard to come by)

Side plates hrm? Have to look into that, sounds kinda like the ones for the 1917 mg's, still think they are thinking of non-transferables though.
-edit-
Huh, made a call and what do you know, there are a handfull of plates in the US, all pre-86 dealer samples, 75-100k each, but you can get them if you are a dealer. Coolness. :)

I was thinking just the same thing. Beeing a guy who stay away from basically any kinds of sports...I'd find bicycle archery indoors in a living room would prove great fun to watch ..from a safe distance.
Other interesting sports:
(finland) wife carrying...(first prize is your wife's weight in beer)

There is a gentleman I know through the local reenactor group who has a rather intresting work project going on...
He's restoring a one-inch caliber Gatling Gun...its not due to be completed for another two years, but he's already loading the ammo for it...and the amount of paperwork he has to file for the feds/state/county has to be seen to be believed!!!!
Among the restrictions is that he can only fire it the local police range, with an officer present (state law), but there is already a waiting list of cops!

Isn't a one-inch caliber Gatling Gun technically an autocannon?

Lee,
How about this project, a 1/5 scale M4 Sherman tank:
http://www.gizmology.net/images/tank11.jpg
http://www.gizmology.net/tanks.htm
It's wood with articulated tracks powered by a battery, radio controlled with a working TV camera for a buttoned-up driver, and a working pneumatic cannon.

That what I thought when I first heard about it...but its a historical, black-powder weapon...but it also explains the mountain of paperwork and the restrictions on where it can be fired and the police presence.

You do know that you can still buy Shermans and Walker buildings surplus. There was also a military vehicle restorer who was selling his Walker Bulldog for $90,000...had to get rid of assets with his pending divorce. Too bad I didn't have the $90,000...would have been great on that daily drive into work!

Lee,
I bet this cost $1000, and made a six year-old child very happy. It would be nice to have a real tank if I could afford it, and you can buy a surplus T-54/55 for cheaper than ninety large, but where would I park it? Not gonna fit in the parkade, for sure! =)

I have five dogs, so I need more interior room. Maybe an M-8 Greyhound -- the 37mm gun would discourage tailgaters. Naw, that wouldn't work -- no one's successfully managed to teach me to drive a stick. And my mother would have to be the gunner. And I'd have to lift them over the side -- lifting a 70 and a 90 pound dog over my head is beyond my abilities anymore.
You know, I remember when I used to put on my ruck by lifting it over my head and sliding my arms through the shoulder straps...and not inconsiderable ruck weights. I'm getting old.

Tigger,
Or some marauders with one would be a force to recon with.
If I recall, Eric (Bigehauser) ran a T2K set in southern England and some marauders/deserters got ahold of a Tiger tank from Bovington, I guess. Don't know how hard it would be to make new ammunition, with the right know-how.

It's quite amazing the sheer number of Tanks/AFVs that are in private hands, just within the US. There is even a "touring company" that makes the rounds of parades and re-enector events with five M-3 Stuarts...and those things are FUN to drive!
