Greetings,

I've dusted off my T2K (V1) game to put together a modern day scenario for a gaming convention.

While I was able to find some service branch/specialty character build skill sets in the RDF Sourcebook, I haven't been able to locate anything that would really represent characters whose service is in the Coast Guard.

Looking through the forum here I found this that looks like it was done for V2 but it seemed a little light for full time Coast Guard as I'm sure there must be some measure of firearms training:

Coast Guard Auxiliary Member
Entry: No Prison record
First Term Skills: The character receives the following skills in the first term:
- Seamanship: 2
- Small Boat Handling: 1
- Mechanics: 2
Subsequent Term Skills: A total of three levels from any one or a combination of the following:
- Navigation
- Small Boat Handling
- Mechanic
- Observation
- Climbing
- Scrounging
- Meteorology
- Electronics
- Seamanship
Contacts: One per term, Coast Guard. Roll 1D10 for 6+ for the contact to be foreign.
Special: During wartime, character may stay in Coast Guard.

I haven't played V2 but is it fair to assume that each skill point in a V2 game is the equivalent of 10% in the V1 system?

Paul has done quite a bit of work on a wide range of things T2Kish. You should check his site out.

With the warning that it is a variant character generation system that is not at all standard.

I was looking at that yesterday and thinking that watering down (e.g. removing parachute and stealth) the pararescue specialties might work for a Coast Guard patrol boat crew.

The Port Security Units would probably be pretty similar to USAF Security Forces with small boat handling thrown in.
