Situation:

With unclear reports coming out of Europe about the success of Operation Reset, CIVGOV has decided to launch an operation to find another super processor that was all but forgotten about

Background:

Dr. Stephen Falken and Dr. John McKittrick; early artificial intelligence researchers; were contacted by US Air Force to build an artificial intelligence, programmed to play numerous strategy and war games, the purpose being to enable itself to optimally respond to any possible enemy nuclear attack. The new system is called WOPR; acronym for War Operation Plan Response. WOPR was a mainframe computer system that controlled a global network of twenty-five work sub-stations. On June 3, 1983, David Lightman; a bright but unmotivated Seattle high school student and computer hacker; breached WOPR; though an unsecured phone line and backdoor password; and cause it to run a Global Thermonuclear War simulation. WOPR began to continuously feed false data such as Soviet bomber incursions and submarines deployments to the US Air Force personnel at Strategic Air Command Headquarters, there by convincing them into raising the DEFCON level and begin preparations for retaliation. However, Dr. John McKittrick and Dr. Stephen Falken were able to stop the simulation and convince the US Air Force to stand down.

An Airforce Colonel who was at SAC when malfunction happen and oversee the shipment remembers what happen to the WOPR and remembers where it went

Mission:

The PC will escort a team to the Oroville Dam in Oroville, California, and retrun to Omaha Nebreska with the WOPR, the journey is 5325 km round trip which will take about three months for the players to return to Omaha

Equipment: The PC will have have the choice of three vehiciles for the trip, M977 HEMTT 10 Ton Truck Trailer, M35 5 Ton Truck, or M113A3, Weapons will be what ever the PC have and ammo reupply is aviable for US weapons systems only, for support weapons the PC and have a M240 GPMG, with 2000 rounds, Three AT-4, or M249 with one M-72 LAW, no other weapons are aviable

Campaign outline

The PC arrive at the CIVGOV captial for a special mission and given the task lead security element for the mission, they main job to keep the convoy going and act a scout for there main job is sneak and peak, the convoy is under orders to aviod contact at all cost, there is no support aviable and they aviod major settlements if possible

NPC’s

The Convoy is actually bigger than three vehicles, there is a small security element mostly Airforce personel and six civilain computer experts who will dismantle the WOPR for tranport, three drivers and Convoy’s commander

PC’s Job in the convoy

The PC’s will act a advance recon element scout ahead of the covoy and providing overwatch at key points

War Operation Plan Response (WOPR)

History: After a secret simulation of a nuclear attack found that several US Air Force officers were unwilling to turn a required key to launch a missile strike, Strategic Air Command decide that command of missile silos must be maintained through high level automation, with minimum human intervention. As a result Dr. Following WOPR's failure, Dr. John McKittrick and Dr. Stephen Falken had WOPR shipped to Canada to run the western half of the continental U.S./Canada power grid. It is housed at Edward Hyatt Power Plant, inside the Oroville Dam which spans the Feather River about 5 miles northeast of the city of Oroville, in California.

RCAF,

This sounds totally awesome! Some rad shout-outs there.

I would jump on this in a minute if I wasn't already over-extended in other games. Thanks for posting this, sounds like a great game.

Heh, that does sound like fun. Question is, will some smart ass - ok, I'm in that list - want to play Lightman? Saying he was drafted, or went and joined mil after a stint in a NMA?

Its a great idea for an adventure RCAF, I salute you. Just one little bit of nit-picking if I may:

Equipment: The PC will have have the choice of three vehiciles for the trip, M977 HEMTT 10 Ton Truck Trailer, M35 5 Ton Truck, or M113A3, Weapons will be what ever the PC have and ammo reupply is aviable for US weapons systems only, for support weapons the PC and have a M240 GPMG, with 2000 rounds, Three AT-4, or M249 with one M-72 LAW, no other weapons are aviable(sic) (emphasis added by me)

Given the importance of this mission, the fact that it has been sanctioned no doubt from the very top of the CIVGOV chain of command and the fact that it starts in the CIVGOV capitol (one of the greatest gatherings of CIVGOV military might in the CONUS) the statement "no other weapons are available" seems... well, just odd, to me.

Ok how about I am sorry but all other weapons are currently needed for defence of the captial, the President ect. besides where's the fun in giving the PC's everything they want :)

On another note I did a google map route it's 1,588 Mi to Oronville Ca, averaging about 20 Mi for the covoy it will take about 3 months one way for convoy also one cool thing I have work on and post is Salt Lake City is on the route. Dose anybody know if it was on the nuke list?

It was not known until 1975, when a magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred near Oroville, that the dam sits on top of an active faultline. This caused serious questions to be asked regarding the Auburn Dam which was just beginning construction at the time and was never built as a result of the possible geologic risk.

Hmmmm just as the group is getting ready to leave... an earthquake hits.... (deep evil laughter!!)

One other possibility. Falken and McKittrick THINK they have stopped WOPR.....

And the evil child within WOPR mutates into Skynet!!

And the machines begin to take over.
