Well not my garden - but a chap in Jersey in The Channel Islands has been excavating a WW2 German tunnel in his back garden.
Weblog Here (http://gardenbunker.blogspot.com/2008/06/whats-behind-garage.html)
It's a little disjointed as the blog starts after he'd already done a lot of work locating and opening up the entrance, but at the time he was posting to a thread on a forum that rapidly grew to several hundred pages.

Nothing really surprising here, there are a fair number of people in his situation. I know of someone who bought a fairly normal house (150m2) in Normandy and ended with a 1000 square meter house for a very tiny price. Under the house was a 900m2 command bunker. They make terrific playgrounds and great home theaters.;)

Kind of reminds of the mother of a childhood friend -- she was English, and the house she lived in when she was a kid had a portion of the old Roman wall running through it. She said there were still some Roman-built fortifications in the area.
