so I've been taking a hiatus of sorts from this board.

thought I'd post a pic of the Endeavour shuttle on the way to its final home. It flew through my neck of the woods last friday, lots of people out and about watching the final flight.

proud but a bit sad at the same time.

the little black splotch underneath is a fighter escort, my guess is an F-15

Hey thanks for posting the pic. It would have been really something to see live, like you said awesome but sad at the same time.
I believe the escort plane is used as a chase plane, loaded with cameras to record anything if it happens and used as an observer if the pilot of the carrier plane needs something external given a visual check.

Just like to chime in. It also flew right over my office & the chase plane was indeed an F-15 Eagle.

It was indeed a very beautiful & moving experience. I was very sad to see her go, but she & her sisters gave us 30 years of service, a very fitting end. They will be missed.:(

I was debating if I could see it flying from the parking garage at work but got wrapped up with customers ans never got a chance. A few friends did just happen to see it from their offices.
