Searching for material on one of your favorite games and getting sparkly vampires!:p Sorry about the rant, but even adding"RPG" or "GDW", "93 Games" , still alot of sparkly vampires. I almost fell over when I discovered this site.

Whenever I tell people about the game I always say something like, "Twilight 2000--no, it's got nothing to do with sparkly vampires, but you just might glow in the dark."

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's worse when you search for images. Then the sparkly vampires come out of the woodwork!

My comments here I think can be taken as board policy on that pretender to the title of "Twilight" and it's boy band vampires...

Alternating silver-jacketed steel cross-tips, Wood (oak, ash, or yew), API for incendiary effects, and tracers with blessed incense added to the filing. Oh, and hollow-points filled with holy water/blessed salt/blessed oil and sealed with wax from a blessed candle. Should take care of vampires, werewolves, faeries, and other other-worldly foes.

The ultimate problem is what in the heck, HBO are going to title it when they finally green-light my all singing all dancing big budgeted, 'Band of Brothers' style adaptation of 'Twilight:2000' for TV. :D
Dropping the 2000 made it seem neater and not a bad straight to video horror film! (See twilight reflects the struggle mankind faces in a post apocalyptic world! SYMBOLISM! ;))

Yep, that's why we call those... "creatures"... from "that" movie, sparkle fairies.
And besides, a guy who is what, 700 years old or there abouts and loves humanity doesn't bother to cure cancer or anything, instead he hangs around a school and seduces teenage girls.
Hmm, just a little bit of a creep methinks.

Oh, I dunno. When he turned his girlfriend into a "vampire" he pre-emptively cured any cancer she was ever going to have :D

That's unfortunate. I liked vampires when it was Underworld, Dracula, John Caprenter's Vampires, that kind of thing. Stephanie Meyer (or however you spelled it) destroyed a great genre for me. I just can't get into vampire movies or books anymore.

The whole zombie genre though has become stale over the last decade. Warm Bodies is to my mind a parody of it and a jab in the eye at the directors. I mean, what else is there to say? Here's how Zombie Apocalypse stuff works:
Plague goes down; either we get 28 Days Later where we don't know what happened or it unfolds so fast nothing can be done about it.
Then we have a little group of survivors that either falls apart (like NotLD, DotD or LotD), or is pulled apart by exterior forces because other survivors are dicks (Dawn of the Dead)*. If there's military or police involved they're violent fascists waiting for a chance to line the non-military types up against the wall and shoot the lot of them (DotD, The Crazies, 28DL, 28WL). If a core of survivors manage to make it through those crises we're given a "shock ending" where they all die or they wind up back in the same predicament as before (trapped somewhere, surrounded by the dead).
And that's it. That's really it. The HUMANS ARE THE REAL MONSTERS! is drummed into our head at every turn with all the subtlety of an Michael Moore "documentary", THE END.
Shaun of the Dead is the sole exception to this, and it's a hoot and it ends with Humanity winning out. How novel! :)
If Zombie Apocalypse is giving way to ZomRomCom, so be it. I'll watch it just because for God's sake let's change gears already. If it brings fresh ideas, that's awesome.
You know what I'd like to see? A post-apocalypse story about people rebuilding. The zombies are gone, poof, rotted away finally, all walked into the sea, the virus went through so many iterations the zombies collapse, whatever - a movie about a few million survivors around the world, shell-shocked but alive and grateful and now starting the process of rebuilding, not O-M-G ZOMBIE IN THE CLOSET! That would be interesting to me.
Until then, if Warm Bodies wants to spoof the genre a bit, fine, I'll watch it on rental.
...
*=The Walking Dead has both things happen to the survivors on and off again.

...In the event that simply being undead doesn't violate some of the so-called Blue Laws of the older states. Massachusetts, for instance, still carries laws against "...witchecraft, transformation, and return to life from the dead not sanctioned by a prieft or other member of the clergy..."
