The Dome ... good, bad, or ugly? From a survivalist (T2K) point of view?

It has a 13 epidode season, so there probably won't be "filler" episodes.

There needs to be a serious accounting of resouces and population soon.

So far. Not impressed, water can't get through so im guessing oxygen might have a bit of a problem which means gas from motors is building up and co2 as well. Wonder how the foodstocks will hold out, but that counts when the last food delivery came into the small town.

Episode 2 showed that water can get through, just not in heavy sheets. And only two people inside the dome saw it.

There may be sufficient plants in the dome to handle the CO2.

I think that the terrain in the dome can handle a stable population of size X ... but the current popolation is rather larger than X.

I saw the first episode but haven't seen more, and I've been meaning to read the book. My question is was there and attempt to dig under the dome? I'd imagine there was but the dome prevented it somehow.

SPOILER ALERT

The fact there is limited oxygen and other toxins can't escape will play a major role later on.

From what I've read, the series will differ significantly from the book, so knowledge of the book may be counterproductive.

IIRC, the dome goes across a lake near the town. I'd call in some Navy frogmen to dive and see how far deep the dome goes and if there is a possibility of swimming under it and entering/exit the dome that way.
