Player parties of Russian or Ukranian deserters

Just a thought I had and wanted to see what the response was. The game was obviously set up as the players being members of the 5th Division fighting for their lives and trying to get home after Kalisz.

But has anyone every played it as Russian or Ukranian deserters (not marauders but soldiers who have had enough) trying to escape to the east after their unit is destroyed in the Battle of Kalisz?

Be an interesting twist - could see how it would change Krakow (obviously the KGB is still the enemy but now for a different reason) and the Madonna (the Soviet division in the area would probably shoot you on site for desertion)

Was just wondering and if so how did it unfold?

I did a Twl2000 character who was a Ukrainian deserter... he accidently killed a Party Members son while in college and was forced to enroll ...in a penal battalion on the Chinese front. After barely surviving his first battle he deserted and made his way to west and got caught up in the attack against the 5'th Division. At the first chance he deserted again.
