Due to the complexity of trying to remove a hostile military spread out through the heart of Eastern Texas, the potential cost of US equipment and manpower and since citizenship was going to be offered to any current resident of Texas regardless of previous allegiances, there were several options provided to the commander of each enemy military unit as an alternative to the commencement of hostilities :

1 . Request to continue military service within III Corps.

Request full citizenship
Normal citizenship requirements apply - No special considerations will be made
Each unit will be disbanded and its men reassigned among current existing III Corps units based on III Corps needs
Current rank will be maintained with exceptions*
No command positions will be assigned until an OCS/NCOC training and performance evaluation is complete
Certain officer ranks may be reviewed and modified to fit current III Corps needs
Length of initial service is 5 years
After 5 years, soldier can remain in military service and enroll into the III Corps Retirement Plan* or they can request a discharge

2. Request a discharge from military service and enter the Texas civilian population

Normal citizenship requirements apply - No special considerations will be made
Lawful prior military service will not be judged negatively - Based around
Geneva Convention guidelines

3. Request safe passage back to the Mexican border by land or sea

Surrender of all military equipment and supplies
Provide a “Non-aggression pledge” for any US / Texas citizen, member of the US / Texan military and promise never to enter sovereign US / Texan territory again
Provide detailed personal history of actions while in Texas

4. Accept assignment in “Dark Horse Industrial Salvage and Trade”*

Each soldier will go through an interview separately and be allowed to decide for themselves what option they select.

* Denotes an area needing more detail/fleshed out.

If you have a transoceanic capable ship, I have always had an odd thought of sending a ship back to pick up the men and some of the equipment of the 8th Mech.

Perhaps if trust could be gained some of the Soviet soldiers could be offered a trip back.

The logistics of it are terribly complicated, but leaving both sets of equipment in place but swapping out the manpower was always something I wondered if it could be pulled off.

Good idea kato...hadnt thought about a swap. That does make the switch much easier if you dont have to worry about that extra cargo.

We do have transoceanic shipping capability...was thinking of tying it in to Yugoslavia / Poland / Korea , etc plan long term...
