It's my first night home after being discharged from hospital. I was riding my Kawasaki Ninja home from work, not doing anything crazy, when some airhead soccer mum ran a red light and smashed me off my bike. Multiple fractures in my right foot, a broken knee and a delightful assortment of bruises. The doctors say my riding armour saved me from much worse injuries. I'm waiting for the pain meds to kick in so I can get back to sleep. Dammit.

How very Mad Max of you, Targan. I'm sorry that you had an accident but I'm glad it wasn't any worse. I hope you have a complete and speedy recovery.

A coworker told me once he was tired of people making him wear his Harley for a hat. Heal up quick!

Hope you get better soon.
I do not know if this is true in Australia, but if something like this happened here in the USA, lawyers would be camped out on your doorstep to sue said stupid lady.

I will most definitely be exploring my options in terms of civil action.

Hope you feel much better and make a full recovery.
I am curious if the driver that hit you was ticketed.

So far all she's had is a ticket for running a red light. The investigating police officers haven't returned my calls so I haven't yet updated them on my injuries.

Yeah, they call these lawyers "ambulance chasers" in the US. You's get you first letters from them before the insurance company got around to you.

With 5 fractures in one leg, strong painkillers have been my friend. In T2K where painkillers (aside from alcohol) could be very scarce, I reckon recovering from serious injury would be a thoroughly miserable experience. I can definitely imagine scenarios where wounded soldiers would seriously consider suicide. I think the pain and suffering involved in a drawn out recovery could inflict significant mental trauma all by itself.

Sorry to hear about your woes my friend...make sure you document all your calls or emails. Dates/times/numbers and such...lawyers can really screw people with the simple stuff. :(

No protective gear, no helmet and only got a bruised shoulder. The fates certainly smiled on him.

Oh man I am sorry to hear about your wreck!
As someone who has been in 4 different accidents, had 6 surgery's, been in a cast for 4 of the last 6 years I appreciate your dilemma and pain. My old motto used to be "don't look back, trouble may be gaining on you." I think a more appropriate one is "better living through modern pharmaceuticals."
Take care. Enjoy Valium.

This is the car that hit me. Note the big dent in the front of the hood - my helmet did that.

Yeah man, she smashed me good. I do consider myself pretty lucky to have suffered as few injuries as I did. Armoured jacket, armoured boots, armoured gloves, good quality full-face helmet. Those items saved me from an early grave or a much longer stay in hospital.
