I used to play this years ago.....then I got on shift work and had a kid; and it's been a long time. I like it a lot; but only two problems were the "waves of planes" and once you found a TF you never lost it issues.
What I mean; For the "waves of planes" you could time it so that if you have 3-5 waves of planes attack a base in a row (a number of straight Turns); and the Base would essentially be useless for a very long stretch of time. This is actually COMPLETLEY unrealistic in almost every case in the PTO as bases were pretty much impossible to shut down for more than a very brief period of time. It is VERY annoying in the game if you're playing a scenario with lots of long-range bombers; as you can just send small flights spaced each hour so that they arrive over target several turns in a row and just shut a place down.
More of an issue is the "once found; never lost" part about searching for enemy Task Forces. (With the exception of night....planes almost always lose TFs at night)......I'm not really sure what the solution is; except maybe to have Turns be a longer stretch of time so that planes can't loiter; TFs move further each Turn; etc.
All that whining aside though :); it's an extremely fun and addictive game and I really enjoy some of the scenarios. Highly recommned the site!

They really changed the game since you probably played it. Now players have to chose what part of the base they want to attack and night times are more deadly for plane crashes on landing. Unless you have a plane shadowing the enemy it now disappears. So sending out CAP to shoot down recon is important.

The game is crap.... I had 20 planes doing Cap over my Carrier and not one of them attacked your planes. I also had a sub trailing your Ships and suddenly they are attacking my carriers over 50 miles away.

I do not know why you planes did not attack them nor about your sub, but ending a game without notifying the other player first is bad sport.
