Origins Game Fair 2016

Roman and I, a.k.a. "The dogs of war", will be running more Twilight:2000 at this year's Origins Game Fair (mid-June, in Columbus).

"Krakow Safe House"
In war-torn Europe, the Free City of Krakow is now an oasis from the war, behind Pact lines. NATO stragglers and agents drift to the city, where the war has moved into the shadows and alleys. A team of NATO stragglers has rescued a downed pilot and his photo-pod’s information. The data is 4 months old, why does the KGB want it so badly?

"Triple Crown is Down Pt.2"
An isolated American cavalry reconnaissance team on the run from Soviet forces. This is a continuation from last years game.

"The Red Horde" A Soviet cavalry force seeking revenge, for the
slaughter of their comrades the previous day, stalks an American Recon detachment in Post-Apocalyptic Poland during WWIII. (We're turning one session of Triple Crown into a head-to-head game.)

"The Bear Never Forgets..."
A Soviet military intelligence team infiltrates and evaluates an Army Commanders loyalty to Moscow.

"An Ancient Enemy"
A German Heimatschutz (Home Guard) unit faces an onslaught from an unexpected threat while doing disaster relief in Post Apocalyptic WWIII Rhineland region of Western Germany.

Admiral, I salute you for flying the T2K flag so proudly. All of those games sound fun. If I was in the neighborhood, I'd definitely be attending. Good luck...

Hey, I have to give credit to Roman and his son, since they're running so many of these scenarios. They sell out tables, which is why I joined them.

I'm thinking about converting my games to Savage Worlds, including the pregen PCs. I may experiment with that next year, or another v2.2 game.

"Krakow Safe House"
I scheduled two tables of this. The first one had 8 signups, 5 appeared; it was early on the first day, and there was a HUGE Charlie-Foxtrot at the registration desks, so I suspect I might have lost players there. Two of the players skipped the line and just showed up without tickets or badges. I had planned on the PCs exploring and defending a warehouse, while meeting some NPCs of unknown alignment or trustworthiness. Instead, after the 3rd such NPC (a "Sergeant Collins" of the 5th MD) tried to lure them into a street ambush, they decided to exit the target and carry the fight to the enemy (namely, the train station occupied by some group of bad guys).

That threw my plans out the window, of course, so I called for a bathroom and water break so I could think it through. When I got back, they had helpfully sketched out the train station on my battle-mat. They waited until the raiders (you know who they are now, right?) sent most of their numbers away, and then assaulted the building under cover of night. That resulted in some weapons and a truck stolen, the station building afire, and 1/4 of the NW gang dead or dying.

The Thursday morning table had 0 signups and 1 guy showed up to see if I could slip him in, but we agreed to call it off.

"Triple Crown is Down Pt.2" (3 tables) / "The Red Horde" (1 table) The first session of this was the head-to-head game, with 13 players total. The Soviet cavalry platoon engaged the Americans, who had shot up a tank-protected convoy. The Americans held the Soviets at bay long enough for them to remount their horses and get away, but not without some wounds.
2nd session saw the Americans escape to tie in with the 5th MD.
Dunno how the 3rd session ended up.

"The Bear Never Forgets..." (also 3 tables, I think) As far as I know, the rebellious army commander died in all 3 playings, and none of the KGB investigation/hit teams needed their suitcase nuke Plan B.

"An Ancient Enemy" (I know 1 table didn't play at all, dunno about the other at this time)

Origins was great once again about giving us the same two tables in the same room for all of our games.
