I just learned that there is a new miniatures rule system based on Team Yankee for cold war era gaming. Seems to be an offshoot of Flames of War. Anyone taken a look? Could be a good option for resolution of larger T2k battles and other similar situations.
I know nothing about it, but having said that I will have nothing to do with it. I am boycotting BattleFraud, tell they make good on the kickstarter that they scammed people out of $$, to pay there bills.

I have heard 2ndhand that it's pretty good, but I've been out of miniatures games for a while.

Seems to be a lot of that going around in miniature gaming.
Seems to be a lot of that going around in miniature gaming.
And the real sad thing is it seems to be coming from a lot of established companies that you would think you could trust, based on their track records.

I have a copy, more for reading than playing. Considering using it for 6mm (1/300) the 15mm just looks wrong.
The organisations have a few mistakes but seems fast and playable.

Got one to read as well. Looks fast and entertaining overall. I agree that the models seem to get pretty cramped on a standard table. It does seem to have borrowed a lot, at least in terms of feel, from the solid board game of the same name.
Having read it, I don't think it would be much use for T2k combat resolution. It's fundamentally a tank game and there just aren't that many tanks rolling around in 2000. Also hugely abstracted at what would be the PC level.

And appears that Britain will be coming in September or October.
I may be a sucker, but picked up some models. Currently painting Soviet infantry and M1s.

Saw the British book in a store last week. "Iron Maiden" is the title.

I have the old Timeline Games, Ltd. "Close & Destroy" wargame. It plays really fast, too fast in fact. If you use the 1" = 10m scale you need a gymnasium to fight regular armor (think about it: TOW-2 shoots out to what, 5km? That's 5000m or 500 inches or forty feet) and to maneuver...and don't even get me started on Fixed Wing attack a/c and artillery. As to speed, despite all of this you can have multiple tank engagements ending in mere minutes...
Does anyone here have The Last Battle? How does it do?

I had a copy of last battle once. It was pretty terrible. I pretty much agree with this interesting write up I found while making sure I knew which game you were talking about.

Coincidence: I also read that guy's blog when looking for info on various wargames and I too agree with his assessment.
I think Last Battle was advertised in all the wrong ways, it should never have been presented as a wargame in itself and should have more explicitly stated that it was a supplement for Twilight: 2000.
I think then it might not have given the wrong impression to the gaming crowd* and might not have got the negative reviews it did.
* I know when I first saw it for sale, everyone who was into T2k thought it was a T2k themed wargame, myself included. We all pretty much ignored itas nto being RPG related. Only years latter did I see the error of my ways and I got a second-hand copy.

Last battle: my brother and I had it, but we'd bought Test of arms first, so we'd at least seen the system. I remember thinking the counters were a little difficult to read. A recent look at them tells me they are definitely hard to read.
I preferred GDW's Assault series, myself. I have all the elements, and still wonder if I could ever get the space and players together, I could do almost a Soviet division vs NATO brigade battle. :D
