Now this would be ideal fodder for Merc: 2000 but I can imagine it would also be usable for some regions in Twilight: 2000 (say Africa in conjunction with Olefin's Kenyan sourcebook for example).

The US Army’s Night Stalkers once stole a Mil Mi-24 from an area near the Chad/Libya border. EDIT: Okay, technically it was an Mi-25 export version but it's part of the same family...
The weblink below is creatively titled "Hind heist".

Yup - welcome to the real life application of Operation Harvester that AFRICOM put into place to gather any operable planes or helicopters they could get their hands on

If you look at my sourcebook you can see that they grabbed two AB 205's from Zambia and one Mi-8T from Ethiopia (as well as aircraft from anywhere they could get their hands on them)

1st Battalion/160th Special Operations Aviation, Task Force Kilo Three
• Manpower: 140 men
• Aviation: four AH-6J, two MH-60L DAP, four MH-60K, two AB 205 (ex-Zambia), one Mi-8T (ex-Ethiopia)
