Hey everyone, as a previous thread stated we are starting a campaign in Texas, year is 2025 (raised from 2020) and going with the basic timeline with some revisions. Anyway, the group has made it somewhat clear they would like to play more of a "Postman" style RP. Although the military will be involved. So I was going to have the PCs start in a small town on the verge of anarchy due to dwindling resources and lack of security. To get them started I was thinking of having the town raided by a large militia that essentially controls the region. Maybe extoring the town, kidnapping a resident who knows?

Any other ideas on how something like this could play out in the larger picture? The group is used to D&D and Warhammer stuff so I imagine "nation building" or something of the kind will be involved later.

Have you seen the TV series Jericho from 2006? It's about a small town surving the aftermath of the apocalypse (in this case a series of nuclear weapon attacks).
If you haven't already seen it and don't mind watching four seasons worth, it shows one way a campaign could play out.

Four seasons? I thought it only went two, I am going to have to look up season 3-4. It is a good show season 1 better than 2 for what you are looking for I think. Also a book that might be kind of what you are looking for is one second after.

Yes I have seen it. Decent show a bit too clean but thats expected on network TV. I can definitely lift some ideas from that.

I thought it got canned halfway through the second season?
Had potential too. :(

Ah, continued as a graphic novel...

Well after rolling 2 catastrophic failures the PCs have doomed the town to an impending attack from the local warlord.
