That just smacks of CGI and a fake story...

It is fake. It was a viral marketing campaign for an in airport hotel.

This is the military version it is based on

Never made it past the prototype stage however.

That's what I thought. The port engine housing just doesn't look real enough although it's a pretty good job elsewhere if you ignore the lack of dirt and grime that always builds up on aircraft.

Hmmm...it's a great graphic for a mobile team's headquarters for future/not-so-near-future games though. Definitely going in my GM's kit bag for future use.

Can you imagine trying to actually fly that thing, or worse land it in more than a slight breeze?
Must handle like a drunken, one legged elephant!

I don't think it looks capable of flying at all. Actually I think it looks ridiculous. Much more believable if it was attached to a dirigible or lifting body airship.

Hmmm, might work in a low grav environment....

Traveller anyone?

Low-grav would mean you probably have a thinner atmosphere, which means much larger rotors!

So we swing those side jet thrusters around a few degrees and we've got our extra lift.

Why are you trying to pick apart an otherwise completely unworkable plan?

;)
