USMC SOF are training with paragliders. Other forces, which I refuse to acknowledge by name, have recently used paragliders during a massive terror raid.

What role do you see paragliders playing in T2k? Have you ever included them in a campaign that you've run, or encountered/used them as a PC? Anyone have practical, first-hand, IRL experience with paragliders?

I might eventually merge this thread with one focusing on Ultralights.

Airlords of the Ozarks perhaps?

I have a little difficulty with this one. How do they launch? In T2K they likely couldn't jump out of a plane. So are they jumping off a cliff to glide down? I can see the stealth angle, but they'd also be giving up the high ground.

I like that they are silent and don't use fuel. But at the moment, i can't see how they'd launch. Or be in enough numbers (say 10 for a raiding party?) to be effective.

Not hang-gliders. Paragliders (click the link in the OP for pics) are essentially parachutes propelled by a small motor (IIRC, the original paragliders used lawnmower motors). One wouldn't need an airplane or a cliff to take off, and they are only silent if the "pilot" turns off the engine in flight.
