Hi everyone...

This is a thread for Morrow Industries and all of it's subsidaries (and their subsidaries, ect). Cannon and our own creation...

We have just come up with the UPS/FedEx cover for the logistical network that would be needed by the Project.

Also names of companies that are part of the Counciol of Tomorrow and their subsidaries could be listed on this thread, or should they have their own thread???

Ideas for some of the kinds of subsidaries...

A 'bigbox' retail goods store (like Wal-Mart) or a mall-like complex... these places would be PERFECT for hiding facilities in plan sight inside of already existing communties. The above ground store/mall would be perfect for fortification and establishing a strong point for the public face of the project during reconstruction.

A 'bigbox' home improvement store (like Home Depot). these warehouse type retail stores can be built over a large warehouse complex full of all of the thinks that the construction and engineering teams would ever need for providing supplies for community building...

A grocery store chain (built over the large warehouse caches full of food, supplies, ect that agricultural teams would need to set up farms inside suburban communties)

A fast food chain (can be used to host boltholes or emergency shelters)

A chain of assisted living gated communities (this would allow for those MP communities mentioned in the main book that where established before cryogenics had been perfected).

A healthcare chain that would be like the Carolinas Medical Center network of private medical clinics and hospitals. This would allow medical care (and training) to be given to Morrow Industries personnel.

Either way we can group or split as needed. Sounds like a good idea.

I am also hoping to use this thread as a means of coming up with covers for Morrow Project facilities that would be inside existing communities.

This a great idea and very practical for the MP teams.
I can see them using Medical supply warehouses as fronts as well as outdoor equipment and military surplus suppliers.
A parking garage/deep vehicle storage facility could hide a lot in the bowels of its structure including a fuel depot

MorrowRail, which owns a few old short-line railroads in the Rockies which have gone defunct but still possess track. Can't quite haul the heavy coal trains, but can support small manifest and intermodal trains. With many large tunnels. In another thread I described how a small complex can be bored into the side of a tunnel and room excavated to transfer cargo from one train to another.

MorrowAir, builder of small business jets about the size of Gulfstreams and such. An excellent place to also construct small VTOL packet cargo planes.

MorrowSpace, a satellite communications company. With Bruce's knowledge of the future, they very well may be THE cutting edge satellite communications company, with many military contracts and applications. Or...they may play it low-key, with a handful of comsats with a hidden reconnaissance ability for post-war assessment and strategic planning.

MorrowMarine, with a small cargo terminal in the Great Lakes...and a secret installation on an island in Lake Huron, as described by a previous poster.

MorrowMil, small purveyor of limited-issue military armaments, equipment, vehicles, etc. Manufacturer, or modifier, of V-150s, etc.

Morrow Research International, which investigates (and has their own diplomatic and financial contacts with) foreign nations, ostensibly for American corporations who don't want the hassle of having to pay money and time to create those contacts themselves but are hoping to invest or build in those nations. Could also explain how the Project obtains foreign military equipment as well as training and expertise, i.e. Israeli desert combat vets training Project personnel in desert warfare.

Just a few basic listings from me, as for the most part, my notes on Morrow Industries are fairly brief since the Players hardly interact with MI, except as part of their backstory and in their own introducitons.

The overall umbrella is "Morrow Industries", and it has the following corporate entities within it:

Morrow Investments (Morrows own front for his funds);
Hughes Aircraft/Tool Co.;
ASARCO Mining;
Aladdin Technologies (replaces United Technolgoies) (#38 Fortune 500);
Raytheon Corp. (#84 Fortune 500); and
Bechtel Engineering.

Monies funneled from US Steel, Ford, GM, and IBM are channelled through Morrow Investments (which inlcudes Joseph Block, James Roche, Henry Ford, and Thomas Watson on the 'Board of Directors'), which 'hardware' mattters are handled through the other five corporations.

Cheers!
John

A grocery store chain (built over the large warehouse caches full of food, supplies, ect that agricultural teams would need to set up farms inside suburban communties)

Kroger (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kroger). This is a HUGE national company (second only to Walmart) with factories, farms and dairies

A fast food chain (can be used to host boltholes or emergency shelters)
