Google's DNS servers are now showing the correct address so I expect things will be resolved shortly . Not surprisingly Google has the most money invested in keeping their DNS accurate compared to ISPs so I usually use them as a gauge as to where things are heading.
My ability to view the site matched exactly when Google was pointing correctly. I can now view the site again without the trick I mentioned above. DNS is weird and when you have two servers both claiming they have the authoritative rights to a domain things get really screwy, but I am hopeful it will be resolved. |
I can get to Paul's, but not any of the individual lists
|
This is really beginning to sound rather screwy...does this sort of thing sort of blow over with time?
Currently, I can go to any link in the site (so far as I have been able to check), something I could not do before. |
It says it can't find (for example)the equipment list on the server.

Paul,
At the moment Google has switched back to the wrong address. Your nameservers are not in sync This is the whois result I get Domain Name: PMULCAHY.COM Registrar: GODADDY.COM, LLC Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com Name Server: NS5.100MEGSWEBHOSTING.COM Name Server: NS6.100MEGSWEBHOSTING.COM Performing a query on each of your name servers returns two different IP addresses. nslookup PMULCAHY.COM NS6.100MEGSWEBHOSTING.COM Server: NS6.100MEGSWEBHOSTING.COM Address: 64.6.240.130#53 Name: PMULCAHY.COM Address: 199.204.248.103 nslookup PMULCAHY.COM NS5.100MEGSWEBHOSTING.COM Server: NS5.100MEGSWEBHOSTING.COM Address: 207.55.253.5#53 Name: PMULCAHY.COM Address: 199.204.251.141 I would contact your Webhost (or whoever handles your DNS if that is a different company) with this information and get them to look at it. |
Working fine now. Being halfway around the world probably delayed the "fix", and it would appear subsequent screwing up again (which is yet to hit me here).

Jumpline is still making final adjustments on their side of the fix, but they admit that they can't do much with GoDaddy's end. |

Hi All, I tried multiple links on Paul's site and they all came up good. This was at 11:10 local time (I'm in Australia so it's GMT +8). I'm using Chrome for my web browser and Google as a search engine but I also tried DuckDuckGo, Bing, Yahoo, Dogpile, Gigablast, Ecosia and even Baidu, all with "pmulcahy" as a search term.
The only problem I had with search engines is Baidu, it has only one link to Paul and that's through this very forum haha! In regards to Paul's site, the only problem I have is one that's been there for a few months, the PDF link to the WW2 sourcebook still doesn't work! -- Last link on this page http://www.pmulcahy.com/PDFs/pdf_page.htm -- |
well it's 9:20pm and I'm on my home computer. I'm still seeing someone's sh!tty crafts page. Hopefully things get fixed soon.

I'm still getting directed to Laura's.

Until the DNS servers are in sync getting the right site will be a crap shoot.
As of right now the NS5 server is still listing the wrong address. The NS6 server is showing the correct one. It is like there are two different telephone directories. One has the correct number and one has an incorrect number. Which directory your ISP chooses to query every 4 hours or so (depending on the TTL number) will decide which website you see. |
I'm getting the sewing site as well. You know, there could be a crafting skill for repairing clothing in T2K...

However, a person not trained in sewing should be able to use a needle and thread to attach two pieces of cloth, but don't expect it to look pretty. |
OK now I'm finding the the sewing site, from both google and the links here

So females should get sewing and cooking as default skills? :naughty:
|
I was getting the sewing site too, today.
Then I checked and sure enough, I'd forgotten to change my DNS from my ISP's to OpenDNS.org. Guide is here: https://support.opendns.com/entries/38001040-Windows-7 If you're not using Win7, here's a jump-off point for tutorials: https://www.opendns.com/setupguide/?url=familyshield I've been using OpenDNS for years. They tend to not screw around. |
Still getting the sewing site...wonder what the throwing range and damage for a knitting needle is?:D
|
yeah its working again

just throwing it out there but has anyone thought of doing warship stats ?

Oh, you know you were all thinking it! :D Seriously though, I'd think all PCs would have at least basic knowledge in those areas. Not many tailors, dressmakers, or fast food chains left by 2000... If you can't maintain your gear, or prepare something vaguely edible, you're going to suffer for it. |
Oh fluff me ridged. While I can get Paul's main page for all the links I am getting a "Not found on this server" message.

"Because it hurts more!" Is it possible that we have overlooked a new WMD? ;) |
The four potential DNS servers now all show the correct IP address and the DNS population tests also show correct pointers.
My guess would be that almost everyone should be able to see the site now (possibly after restarting your browser). It could take 48 hours for stragglers but I am hoping the worst is over. |
Finally!
It's working for me again. :)
This whole episode had illustrated just how important and valuable Paul's work is to the T2K community. As they say, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. |
It is indeed fixed. Luckily I had a fairly up-to-date catalog downloaded.
