Rowen Catherine Leary was born yesterday at 10:48AM Pacific Time. She weighed 6lb 4oz at birth and was 19 inches long. I was birth partner, and I've seen men casevacked for lesser injuries than my wife endured delivering. No epidural. Very impressive. My wife and little girl are doing wonderfully.

Congratulations. I like the name you chose for her.:)

Congratulations and salutations. I hope your digital camera/video recorder didn't destroy your pictures of the birth like it had for me. I was there for Zachary's birth. I was the first person to hold him after he was out of the womb... I relive his birth every day. Looking into his little blue eyes and promising him that I would be the best father I could be (I hope he can forgive me for not being there for him as he grows up now).
Hold your daughter to you every chance you get, tell her you love her without regret or reservation. Never, EVER pass up a chance to hug and tell your children you love them. Because if something happens, you will loathe and regret every chance you had... but let it slip passed. Because I know how that feels, and i do not want anyone else to feel this pain. Or wish that their parents would have let me slip away in my sleep during my coma. Please Webstral... let your child know how much you love them. Because changing a horrid smelling diaper, can be the most amazing and wondrous experience when you have lost that ability. |
Webby,
Congrats! A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Tony |
Congratulations!!!!
There is nothing like a daughter to reduce a grown man into jello! Everytime you hold her and see her eyes light up and her special smile for her daddy....it'll reduce ya to tears my'man! Enjoy the tea parties, learn her dollies names, learn how to comb her hair, and enjoy the way she will wrap her daddy around her little finger...it don't get much better than that. And finally, let me add something my granddad told me when my daughter was born..."Son, a daughter is God's revenge on you for everything that you did when you were a teenager...". Ever since then I've promised my wife that daddy's little girl will be allowed to date, after she turns 65! ;) And yes, I keep a shotgun painted white...just in case a formal wedding is necessary! LOL! |
Congratulations

Congatulations!
Hey, wasn't there a Mrs Leary's cow that burned down San Francisco back in the late 1800's? Or was that Chicago? Don't let little Miss Rowen play with matches :) Beautiful name. |
Excellent! Congratulations Web, to you and your wife.
|
Fantastic news Webstral - congratulations to you.

Big congratulations Web! You're about 3 weeks ahead of Mrs Tigger and myself :) Hope the family are well.

Congratulations!
Us old-line wargamers like to add, "May all her wars be cardboard." |
Congrats Web.

Congrats, and also wishing a speedy recovery to mum!
|
Congrats!
BTW, weswood, the O'Leary's cow caused the fire in Chicago. |
Congratulations Web. Good news indeed.
|
Congrats, Web. I was a bit worried about having a daughter at first but she's awesome I wouldn't trade her for anything. I'm just not looking forward to the teen years... (she's 3 now)
Have fun! |
congratulations
on the good news.
I wish you all the best ! |
Congratulations, be warn little girls break your hearts and your wallet
|
Oh crap, there's another one!
:D |
And don't forget to sit on the porch polishing a shotgun with a hard look on your face when the boys come.
|
Thanks, all, for the many well-wishings. Currently, I'm using a blued Mossberg 500, but I'm thinking seriously about going to a stainless steel finish for effect. Also, I'm debating whether the pits outside her window should be filled with punji stakes or a fougas booby trap. I'll repeat what I told Rowen's grandparents: by the time my little girl is of dating age, I intend for her to be proficient in capoeira, jujitsu, and Smith & Wesson.

Go for a classic - 10 gauge, black powder, double barrel.
:D |
LOL
Just have a series of pits dug in the backyard...and when the boys show up, lock the ankle monitor on...check the GPS tracking feature in front of them...show them your collection of weapons and knives and make sure they see the Castration for Dummies book on your desk... ;) |

My suggestion (as a dad to two girls and grandpa to two more) As soon as she turns about 12..... Lock her in a high castle tower, Make sure the dragon watching over her is HUNGRY.... :p Oh yes, make sure that you DO show any young men that show up the DUNGEON... A few skelletons just for show??? :D Seriously, Always take time for the tea parties with the stuffed animals!!! Mike |
I'm planning on adopting a lot of these ideas for my own little girl - she's currently 4. 3 weeks today for the next wee one to arrive - if it all goes to schedule :)
What everyone is saying about the tea parties is so true! There's something special about sitting round the table and being "Beautiful Princess Daddy" :) |
Great news! Congratulations to you and the missus, Web! :)

Wouldn't trade my 3-year old in for the world....but I'm deeply worried, everytime I take her to WalMart....she flirts with every man and women in the store.......when she hits the teens....
I'm so screwed! |
Outstanding and congratulations! HAPPY DANCE!!! (boogie boogie cha cha cha)
...and I think the Smith and Wesson idea works the best. My fiancee prefers Springfield Armory :D |
