Military Map Symbol fonts

2 Attachment(s)
I am currently thinking of modifying some of these font files to the US standards (they are either UK or Nato). Before I get started does anyone have any other map symbol fonts I can look at or possibly copy from.

Eventually I hope to be able to use these on my dynamic Google maps and for printable To&Es.

Attached is a zip file of 12 fonts (i only consider App6a04.ttf useful) and an image of the font details.

Those already should be the US standards as they are the same as the NATO usage... APP-6A military map symbols.

If thats the same font collection that I have, there should be about half a dozen different formats for each type (engineer/infantry/etc) - but all are NATO standard (including US). As well as the proper modification for unit size.

Does anyone know if FM 101-5-1 been deprecated.

It shows the US using different symbols for airborne, air assault, and a few others. The little bird rather that the parachute for example.

Well, there is a separate icon for Paratrooper and Airborne as they are not entirely the same as far a terminology is concerned. This also goes for air assault and air mobile.

The parachute is for paratroopers
The "bird" is for airborne
The V is for airmobile

I don't think the US uses the parachute at all. I have found differences in Anti Aircraft, Air assault and Transportation as well. There also appear to be two different accepted indicators of amphibious and ski capable troops.

The font also does not reflect the new cannon equipped symbol (a vertical line on the left side) , so I am going to continue updating it.
