GM Computer aids

Hey guys,

I'm new here, a few buddies and I recently picked up a dog-eared copy of Twilight 2000 2.0 and a couple modules from Half-Price books; the setting and concept is a blast, but it's a helluva lot of rules to get your head around! I'm the defacto GM for this game and I'm trying to figure things out. I think I've got a handle on the meta-travelling/foraging/fuel rules, but handling encounters still eludes me. I've rolled up some random encounters, and seem to have that figured out, but it seems the workload in prepping 30+ NPC sheets in pretty high.

Over the years, has anyone developed any excel-based tools for making generating encounters and bookeeping easier? I was surprised an internet search couldn't even turn up a character generator. It would seem that building a tool that would let you input the parameters for your encounter and *poof* it outputs printable NPC tables, complete with heavy weapons, etc. where appropriate would be pretty feasible (though beyond my ability). Does anyone have anything built they might be willing to share with a new player that would make my learning curve a bit easier?

Thanks,
Brandon

I have an excel based encounter tool:
http://sites.google.com/site/leonpoi...edirects=0&d=1

you can check out my assortment of files
http://sites.google.com/site/leonpoitw2k/Home
but unfortunately I stopped updating it a while back - but plan to when I get the time

by the way, you don't need to prep any NPC sheets - just use the default Green, veteran, etc NPC stats. That will give you initiative and the skills for the NPCs.

I have a character generator in excel on that site, but I think you'll find it to be quite a lot of trouble if you're not used to it.

There aren't really any instructions there so if you have any questions I'll help the best I can. note that this stuff is v2.2, but it's mostly the same.
