Benefits of Snowshoes or Skis?

Am I missing something?

I can't for the life of me find anything in RAW that details any kind of benefit from using snowshoes or skis?

Am I missing something obvious? I must be....?

If I'm not, does anyone have rules for using such in snow? Basing my campaign around winter, so expecting cold weather and dealing with snowfall.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Issue 29 of Challenge had weather rules for first edition, including some material on winter travel effects.

I generally try to avoid commercial self-promotion, but since it's directly relevant, I will also note that I adapted those to second edition in The Pacific Northwest.

There are short skiing rules in Pohjoismaat lahdekirja (Nordic sourcebook V1 Rules).

Skiing is skill. Those who don’t have skiing skill use 2 x Agility. (All those whose skiing skill is lower than 2 x Agility use that number, until skill improves above it.)

Skiing in flat terrain is Easy. Skiing in hilly terrain is Average. Skiing in mountain area or another challenging environment is Difficult. Failing in skill test means that you have to use more time or even taking other route. Catastrophic failure means that you break skis or bones.

You cannot crawl when using skis in combat.

Character who has skiing skill can add Strength to their marching speed. You can keep that pace Constitution/2 hours. Fast ski march causes two levels of fatigue per period.

Thank you both!

To be honest, I'd looked in the version of the Nordic sourcebook I have and hadn't seen anything (I may have an early WIP version, is there a more up to date link somewhere?) but it never occurred to me to check the Pacific Northwest sourcebook!

Having checked out TPN and Challenge 29, I think I have a good grasp now, and I think I'm integrating the movement rules that Trooper discussed, to make skill have more of a meaning.

But like I said, thank you both!!
