New T2k4 battlemaps and assets

In case some of you are interested, I launched a small Patreon page were people can support me as I create new stuff for T2k4.

Here are a few samples (note that the size of the images has been largely reduced) :

Hi there. Your maps and tokens look good. With the maps will you be producing hexless versions? I'm using the alternate map rules for V4 and therefore need to set up a 2m grid on the map rather than using the 10m hexes.

Thanks.

Twilight Maps 02-04-2022 04:50 AM

Sure I can make hexless versions. I also make winter versions, since this has been requested by my patrons.

Welcome

Welcome to the forum, Twilight Maps. That's some nice looking stuff. Did you create that AFV image? What is it? It resembles a BTR-40, but exhibits some key differences (like a roof, and windows for the passengers, for example).

Thank you.

The vehicle is a soviet BPM-97. I did it to make sure I could reproduce the style from the books. No particular reason for picking this one, if you wonder. I just liked the design.

OT-64 & LAV-25

Nice. You did a great job duplicating the 4e art style. Have you done an OT-64? I was very sad not to see Poland's own indigenous APC included as a vehicle card in the 4e rulebook. I was also disappointed that they didn't include a vehicle card for the LAV-25 as, to me, it is a T2k icon.

Nope I haven't. Making a vehicle (that is the vehicle art plus the undamaged and damaged tokens) is quite time consuming, so I only do one per month (so far, the only one I've done is the BRDM-2). But next vehicle hasn't been decided yet, so could be a Polish one.

EDIT : Turns out that this month vehicle will be one of these four : the LAV-25, the PT-76, the Leclerc or the Wiesel. Now it's up to the patrons.

Tempting votes. I think my least favorite would be the Leclerc, simply because I haven't found any use for it in my campaign sketch out so far.

Maybe your players could meet a french crew on his way back to France (or on the contrary deserters).

Anyway, a new map has been released. It's a small FOB, where player might find something useful. Unless it has already been looted, or it is occupied by a faction.

Here is a small preview :

Well, who knows, maybe some French tourists indeed visited Kraków recently. Hopefully they all made it out of their castrum alive, but without their gear. :D

Very good pic - keep in mind the BPM-97 didnt go into production until 1999 but its possible that you could have protos and very early production models encountered by characters - makes for a great "what the heck is that" vehicle for an encounter

Yeah I know, that's why I kept it a "test" vehicle. Although production might have started earlier in the Twilight world, given the political situation. But I like your idea :)

Team LAV-25

TM, did you decide what your next vehicle illustration is going to be?

Haven't heard from his Patraeon for a while now.

Twilight Maps 03-03-2022 05:39 PM

Yeah I know, I've been really busy doing the new maps for Urban Operations. It's a full time job, and I just can't work on more T2k maps whenever I've got some free time. But once the expansion is out, I'll have more time for the Patreon page.

Regarding the vehicles, I did the PT-76 (just sent the reward to the patrons). Next one will be the LAV-25.

Tegyrius 03-03-2022 06:37 PM

The PT-76 looks great. You're absolutely nailing the style of the core books' art.

Thanks. i'm glad you like it :)

And speaking of vehicles, here's a free vehicle sample I released a few weeks ago: the M35 truck.

I am psyched to see what is brewing for Urban Combat maps.

I regret to report that Twilight Maps shut down his Patreon today:

In december 2021, I was diagnosed with a rare condition. I started making T2k4 maps while I was at the hospital, as a way to keep my mind busy and forget about the pain I was in. Someone said I should start a patreon, so I did, and then things went crazy when Thomas from Free League asked me to work on Urban Operations after seeing said maps on facebook. For the next 6 months, I drew maps day and night, either for the expansion or for the patreon. Truth is, it saved me. I would have gone crazy with the pain otherwise.

It's been one year now, and though I haven't fully recovered (and never will), I feel a lot better. Even if it means I don't have time to work on maps as much as I'd like, I can walk and teach again, and I don't need painkillers anymore. In a way, it is thanks to you.

So once again, thank you for your support! I mean it. It's been one hell of a ride, and I wish you all the best! See you around!

He's alluded to pieces of this before, though not to this extent. I hope he's able to continue his recovery and define a new normal for himself.

I've been a patron since last February and I've been consistently amazed by the quality and variety he's produced, both in battlemaps and in vehicle art and tokens. I'm currently running a West Marches-style 4e campaign for my college gaming group and am using his maps more than the ones from the boxed set. If we're lucky, he'll be able to put his catalog up for sale on DriveThruRPG so referees who didn't subscribe to his Patreon can purchase his work at a later date. He's been a great contributor to the community.

I really like his style. Thanks for the update. I had no idea he'd been so ill.
