Hmm...Considering running a game.
Well,
Here it is..I know writing what I do with Chico, FF and Law is a lot of fun, but right now, we're all mucho-macho busy with other projects, but I wonder, once the summer begins and I am free, if it would behoove me to get a game going. Pros: 1. I'd get to use all those nifty books I have. 2. I think I could run it and have a decent story or two in mind. 3. I'd be in a group of folks who wouldn't think military=evil or some BS like that. 4. It'd be an excuse to use the new gaming software out there.... Cons: 1. I haven't GMed since HS and I am not the best at it. 2. Where to play? I live in a studio right now, and clutter is my watchword. 3. Twilight 2000 unlike D and D 4th doesn't have people climbing over each other to play. Comments? I'd probably run Ver 1.5 (Yeah, I know, but I helped write it...so sue me!):D |

And, well, if you will be running v1.5, you will have a clear picture of the background situation.;) . And you can add one more pro if you will be using your miniatures in your games. |
For me, I wouldn't worry too much about people who want to play D&D 4th edition, I've found that the ones who really love it are interested in the "get straight into the fight" style of playing and are not so interested in the Role Playing aspect. I don't think they are the type of players I would want for any game that requires complex interactions with NPCs, someone described 4th edition to me as a Roll-Playing game because everything that doesn't involve combat is now sort of behind the scenes and only the combat is important.
I've not really played much of any version of D&D but having seen all the miniatures they expect you to buy for 4th edition I can't help but think that it's more of a wargame than a role playing game. |

EDIT: Looks like you can do this in MapTools as well, just a bit less obvious. It did take some effort to get it to work, as I had to create firewall exceptions for *both* my PC and router. |

I have played in some tight spaces, and it has always been one of those issues that seems so minor after the gaming session when everyone enjoys themselves. Keep it ventilated, and get some beverages to help lubricate those with issues being closed in. Wish I was there. :) |
