US troops

wasnt there a pic of US troops there too ?

guess it is similar to NATO soldiers training with the German in the 1950s ..or the East Germans after 1989..weird feeling.

At the rate things are going, close cooperation between the Russians and the West may be necessary for the containment of China. I hope it doesn't come to war, but China's very impressive growth, the relative decline of the US, Europe, and Russia, and the limits on the world's resources are a worrisome combination. If we're all lucky, Beijing will remain convinced that commerce is the best way to dominate.

I think that's the way it'll be. The Chinese are just making WAY too much money off of the US and the West in general to want to screw up a good thing. They don't have to invade us -- they'll just buy us.

You hit the nail on the head. China knows the more we buy from them, the less likely we are to seriously stop any of their antics in the future.

I don't see Russia being too keen on attack China either, considering they both basic fought over the border many time in 1960s and 1970s to a draw. Considering part of the withdraw of weapons from Europe, they went to storage in Siberia and Far East to beef up those units in case things went south...

Besides the Chinese and Russia have seem to be close. With Putin as Prime Minister, I don't see Russia being to open to anything, unless of course it leads to bringing some of the former Republics back under the direct control of Moscow and some troublesome Muslim regions in his own back yard.
