Alarm response operator for a security company. Hating every second of it. Spent the previous 10 years as a media monitor, loved that but the company bought out all the competition then sacked all the media monitors in three state offices including mine. Bummer.

Medically retired from the Army at 100% permanent disability, plus I have a permanent disability rating from Social Security. My mother has lived with since her first stroke and she insists in return on making my car payments, which I will have finished in March of next year. She says that after the car is paid off she will still "pay rent" at a reduced level, and she won't let me talk her out of it (we've had actual arguments over that). Between caring for my mother and the fallout from my growing physical ailments (chief among which is severe osteoarthritis; I have Sendig-Larsen's syndrome the after-effects of the many injuries I sustained in the Army and never let heal properly at the time). and the effects of the medication for my mental illness, there's really no way I could hold down even a part time job, and the VA and Social Security recognize that. I do a very small amount of volunteer work for the Animal Defense League (primarily keeping up their computers), but I can't manage more than have them call me when they have a computer problem that they can't fix, and it doesn't really come up that often.

Not working due to chronic PVFS (Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome) and severe clinical depression. I used to do voluntary work in the cyber-cafe in my local psychiatric hospital patients social centre, until that was shut due to budget cuts. I then was chairman of a society that was set up to try to provide the same services for the patients as a charity until that got too much for me.
