South China Sea Arms Race
 

We've posted recently about the new warships that the PRC is building, including its first aircraft carrier.

AP just released the following:

Vietnam has taken delivery of its second guided missile Gepard-class frigate and has signed an agreement with Russia for the purchase of 6 Kilo-class diesel-electric submarines (first delivery isn't for 3 years though).

The Philipines, in spite of their budget problems have taken delivery of their most modern warship, a former US Coast Guard Hamilton-class cutter.

There also reports of further PRC enroachment into the various Sprately Island claims of both Vietnam/Philippines.
