Help wanted for naming Kentucky Military Medals & Awards

"A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of coloured ribbon" (Napoleon, 1815)

The KFS has an Army, an Air Force, a paramilitary Security Force and (at least in my MP Universe) a tiny riverine Navy. It seems likely that the Rich 5 would institute a way of rewarding their military servants - and choose a cheap way of doing so.

I propose the following order of awards (lowest to highest). Please give comments and (if you can) suggest names for these

1. Mention in Unit Report. An individual soldier is singled out by his commanding Officer and his meritorious conduct is mentioned in the CO's monthly report. This is the start of all awards process but - if no Award is given - the soldier still receives a small aluminium "pin" which is worn on the lapel (this is a miniature of his CO's rank: star for general, 2 bars for Captain etc)

2. Mention in Broadcast. In the KFS, TV & radio news reporting is completely controlled by the state. Reference to the activity of non-officers is rare & considered a high military honour - the individual receives a certificate and a small brass "pin" in the form of a stylized transmitter.

3. Free State Star. Awarded for coolness and bravery "under fire". Most Sargeant-Majors have one of these decorations (and often 2 or 3)

4. Heroic Service Medal. The highest award given to enlisted men (often posthumously). It is routinely awarded to Squadron Commanders in the Air Force.

What do people think? I'm wondering if "Long Service" and "Good Conduct" medals are also awarded. Should there be special awards for the Air Force & the Secret Police?
