What is DM in the promotion field in careers?

Dice modifier:

Basically saying if you meet the preconditions (Say, Intel 7 or higher) you add a certain number to your roll. So, say you need a 6 for promotion, you roll a five. No promotion for you... unless you have that Intel 7, in which case you add one to the five, and get six: and the promotion.
