The greatest generation
I think this thread existed before, but I can not find it.
I am passing on the sad news that my Dad is not expected to live too much longer. Born in a small town in Pennsylvania in 1923, he and his family survived the Great Depression. My Grandfather, Andy, was a policeman. Many times he was paid in groceries vs. money. Dad joined the US Navy after Pearl Harbor. He was assigned to anti-sub patrol out of FLorida. THen, toward the end of the war, he was training to be a carrier pilot for the invasion of Japan. As he sails into whatever lies on the other side, help me wish him smooth sailing and calm seas. My $0.02 Mike |
Mike, this is really sad news.
I wish you and your family all the best ... Hope you will find the strength, that you all will need. B.T. |
Smooth sailing and calm seas!
My prayers are with you and yours... |
Respect to your dad, Mike.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.
At this moment, Dad is still with us. He is now in hospice care. THey will keep him comfortable until the end. I did have a chance to get to his side before all of the drugs. There were a lot of things that had to be said, and they were. SO that is good. Now, we wait. After he sails into whatever, all of the arraingements are made. My sister and I make a few stratgic phone calls, and every thing happens more or less on auto-pilot. Again, thank you for all of your thoughts. My $0.02 Mike |
