T2K Faction Map of the U.S.

Has anyone come across a CONUS map showing the zones of control of the major factions (MilGov, CivGov, New America, Mexican military remnants, Division Cuba, etc.) c.2000? If so, would you kindly direct me to it forthwith?

I know that the BYB gazetteer has a written description giving some of this information but it would be nice to be able to see it rendered graphically and in more detail.

If no such map exists, it would make a great T2K project... (hint, hint.)

I didn't color code CIVGOV/MILGOV differently but this will at least help establish the Mexican intrusion limits.

forgive the width. You lose the ability to read most unit information if i take it to a smaler scale.

Raellus 05-16-2013 08:12 PM

That's really cool, Kato. I suppose I can cross check U.S. units for Mil/CivGov loyalty. Any chance of adding known New America power centers?

kato13 05-16-2013 08:14 PM

Sure if you give me the unit location (city/state or zip) and the manpower size i can create infantry units for them. Not sure when I will get to it but it is something that my maps are missing.

Here is a closeup of division cuba's location as it is lost in the clutter.

Once I'm on summer break, I'll take a look at the U.S. modules and glean that info. When I get it, I'll pass it along to you.

This is why I was hoping that such a map already existed- I'm too lazy to do all the necessary research myself!

Kato, is this like a sharable web map? I know Google Maps has something where you can do that...

Graebarde 05-18-2013 04:59 PM

It is the product of a web application I was building to assist the DC Group (I was kinda the unofficial map guy). It does a lot but is not finished (and may never be).

If anyone wants to use my data for something like that mentioned above (Google Maps/Earth) I have attached a zip file with xls/cvs/txt files. There is the location data and manpower/equipment for all 730 canon units that I found.

Kato,

On your wonderfull maps, I do have a question.

Some of the Mexican Units are coded green. What does this mean?

On this map they are units that are not loyal to the Mexican Higher command.

They are actually yellow (notice the Quebec units are green).

These unit maps are made from the US perspective using US symbols and color scheme (yes i know it is a hybrid as enemy units are supposed to be a diamond)

Blue = Allied
Red = Enemy
Green = Neutral
Yellow = Unknown (In T2k case generally Marauders)

That map is great!

Excellent Work Kato!

Did you only do North america or did you do a UK map too?

I did notice that whilst you had the British 1st Cheshires. You had not placed British 1st Royal Hampshires.

I did the whole world, but some places don't have great detail. IIRC the Survivors Guide to the UK listed several units as Southern England. That is difficult to map. Korea is similar as all US units are simply listed as "Korea"

I also seem to remember there being some discussion of whether or not SGtUK should supersede the NATO guide so I think I ignored it. Currently my UK only has the first airborne brigade.

If someone wants to give me unit names, locations, and strength (Men and AFVs/Aircraft) I can map out the UK.

Actually I can map just about anywhere, for any canon/non canon situation, if I have the above information.

The maps were originally going to show where every unit was weekly for the entire war (if the DC group had finished their work). So it is built to handle lots data in lots of variations.

They are there but they are Co-located with with a German unit. When units are Co-located I either show the largest unit manpower wise or the highest ranking unit (Bat<Reg<Brig<Div<Corps) depending on what the user selects. This prevents some overlapping of icons.

I just found out this old page is still working.

This is an early proof of concept prototype that I made that I provided the link to a while ago. It is not as database/bandwidth intensive as my newer version so you guys can check it out.

http://games.juhlin.com/maps/RDF_sourcebook.html

As this is an early prototype it has many issues, like not listing the Country (in the on unit click popup) and collocated units are not represented (Only the largest unit at a single location is shown). I fixed those in my latest version (which is what I have been showing you).

Can you guys tell me how long the page takes to load and what browser you are using. First time load will most be longer than when you return to the page as a lot of the javascript will be cached.

Kato,

In answer to your question.

The RDF map you mentioned loaded on my old XP machine in about 15 seconds. I am running I.E. 7.0 on a DSL service running at 10MBS. I hope this helps.

9 seconds. Firefox 21.0 under Mac OS X 10.6.8. Cable modem connection; current speed is clocking in at 13.2 Mbps.

simonmark6 06-01-2013 09:19 AM

Less that two seconds, IE 7.

Thanks. That is about the highest I hope to see.

A note, even though it says RDF map it does have the whole world. You need to click grab to move it to other locations.
