New version of Nukemap
Fellows, there's a new version of the Nukemap nuclear-weapons effects simulator. It now includes surface bursts, and options to calculate casualties and fallout.
It's still at the old URL: http://www.nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ |
I checked this out using China's current bomb. Did 3 target locations close to home. Mont Belview, Tx, about 5 miles from home,Enterprise, Lyondell & Chevron refineries. Bayer refinery, about 1 mile. Exxon, about 8 miles.
All I can say is F@*&^()*^%&%CK ME! |
Brr. Scary as always.
|
I notice very little fallout with airburst but I was amazed at how far the fallout will stretch with a ground burst. I did a Chinese 5 MT over New York and the fallout nearly reached Boston.
|
I just did a 250KT air burst at Fort Bragg. If I am work, I will not feel a thing. If I am home, I MIGHT survive???!!!??
Then I did the surface blast.....UGLY....'Nuff Said My $0.02 Mike |
Working on some stuff, just did 200kt over DC....eek, damn fallout goes into PA
|
A tweak to the site may let you choose burst height. It gives the minimum altitude for a "minimal fallout" detonation, but not the height for maximum blast and heat effect.
|
What's really scary is that if Philly gets hit, unless its the Tsar Bomba I'm out of range. heck even if they hit Philly, Salem Nuclear Power Plant, and Fort Dix to my North I'm in the center of several nukes and I'm survivable. Of course with Tsar Bomba's I'm just inside the Thermal radius then its good night gracy. At that point the living shall envy the dead.
|
Tsar Bomba was more for propaganda than anything else. Though it was aircraft deliverable, the chances of a Bear bomber managing to penetrate and drop the weapon were slim. Let alone getting away. Especially if the weapon was at the design yield (100 MT).......
The tweak for selecting burst height may be coming soon. That's one I'd like to play around with. |
