Abandoned Virginia RenFaire park
If your PC group's in the US and they ever get to Virginia, this site might be an interesting stopover or even destination.
It opened in 1996 and closed in 1999 so I figure the buildings were probably all completed in 1995-96 Many of them seem to be facades without finished interiors (but still complete as in four walls, floor, roof etc. etc.) http://imgur.com/a/TQ8qw#46 - collection of photos http://i.imgur.com/YSXJs.jpg - aerial shot of the site http://io9.com/the-haunting-remains-...ire-1448130076 - more photos http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=qc8...=b&form=LMLTCC - somewhat interactive photo-map http://www.realtor.com/realestateand...&CID=prt300022 - real estate listing adds some additional detail about the site P.S. found another photo set http://www.flickr.com/groups/1716439...oto_8478281419 Also it's worth noting that the buildings appear to be wooden construction, even the "stone/brick" buildings. |
Sad to see such a place decaying like that. It looks beautiful and seems to have potential, I wonder why they closed it down?
I'm recently become a big fan of Renaissance Faires (no, haven't quite come up with a costume yet). Isn't this one located outside of Fredericksburg? |
Gives you an idea how much time has passed by looking at the bike. Thing is rusted up something serious and the rear tire looks to have been buried by time in the dirt.
