That was adapted by a video game store as part of a viral marketing plan.

I STILL think it is an idea that someone will eventually create. And as I said in an earlier post, if it happens, I might just take a swing at trying it. I am not saying it would be a permanent part of my "stash" but it just seems like fun to me.

Given the requirement doc for US military brownies is 26 pages, I cannot imagine what it would require for something like this to pass muster.

I agree, Kato, this monstrocity will never make it to the US military. But I would not be suprised if someone tries to make this.

It sort of reminds me of a scene in Repo Men, where one of the characters is eating out of a can that is simply labelled "Food."

Eventually someone will attempt to make and market this. I fear for the future.

Nah, they will put out to bid quite openly. Probably as a canned meal for displaced refugee populations. Then after its accepted repackage it for the military consumption and for FEMA.

If during peacetime such a generic "food" was developed for FEMA it would probably be bland but pretty healthy. Creating a food that would not offend any vegans nor anyone of anyone following religious dietary laws would really restrict what would be put in it. You would probably be limited to the basic grains and beans as well as a pretty basic spice palate.

As far as the 12 course meal in a can, I cannot see the cost of the stability research for such an item being overcome by end user demand. I think 3d food printing of such an item for instant use would probably come first.

You don't know how much the words "3D Food Printing" scares me. Will we soon be subsisting on wafers of Tofu sculpted to look like a Hamburger?

What bugs me the most is- Who eats eggs & bacon for Christmas dinner?

I LOVE bacon & eggs, I just don't see it as Christmas dinner. To me, Christmas is a time to gather with family and friends and celebrate the birth of Christ. I realize not everyone is Christian and this particular holiday means something else and I'm not trying to preach. Day after Christmas is the day to relax & eat eggs n bacon for dinner. And bisquits and hash browns. OJ or milk.... dang, mouth is starting to water.

In all honesty, I'd rather have eggs than turkey, but with the family gathered...

We do steaks for Christmas, while I don't see it as weird I do get funny looks when I tell people that. Not sure why.

To me, holidays were when everyone in the family gathered. And argued. and 3/4 of the family got drunk. And where my stepmonster decided he didn't like any of his gifts and that we should have just given him the money.

I preferred Christmas in the Army in the mess hall. The Army goes all out for Christmas dinner.

But my mom does make fantastic prime rib.

You know, that can of "food" looks like something PEO Soldier might dream up...I've ate some nasty stuff in the Army, and that looks better than some of the nasty stuff.

Steaks for Christmas? Dangit, the wife already bought the turkey!

Because of Stepkids and the grandson having to spend Christmas dinner at the stepson's fiancé place we do two meals... they stay overnight and open presents on Christmas morning here... so I do a Roast Beef Xmas dinner on Christmas Eve... and then the rest of family comes over on Xmas day and have a turkey which the wife cooks.

Isn't that what cold pizza is for?
