Uh...Paul?
Anyone else getting this weird result when you visit Paul Mulcahy's site?
it redirects you to some swewing and embroidery site. Even when you google it; Paul's site on T2K is result 1 and this lady's sewing site is number 2. What going on? I hope Paul is alright. |
Still working fine for me. Googling gets local newspaper reports of the death last year of a rally driver with the same name.
My guess is your results are based on factors unique to you. |
Yeah, the link for Paul's site, which I had favorited/bookmarked, now takes me to Laura's Sewing Studio.
|
Could you have malware messing with your searches?
|
The same with me.
I then entered pmulcahy into google and you get not only the main page but also 6 sub-pages (rifles etc) listed. But none of these worked. |
Try a different browser and search engine? I'm with .45 here in thinking it's a problem at your end given others such as myself aren't having any issues at all.

If that were so, I'd also be having the same issues. All is normal from where I sit.
|
All is well from this POV.
However, this brings up a question: Are Paul's files and links preserved somewhere (Wayback Machine, perhaps) in case T2k or the Morrow Project becomes a reality and they are "lost"? |
I'm having the same problems, Paul's site is not coming up at all.
|
I'm also getting the sewing site.
|
I used the link from his profile on here and it worked fine?

When I click pauls link I see his site. However that does not mean that the problem is local to individual users.
There seems to be a weird DNS propigation error Check this link https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/pmulcahy.com When I ran this a minute ago I got 2 different IP addresses New York NY, United States Speakeasy 199.204.248.103 Mountain View CA, United States Google 199.204.251.141 I have only seen something like this happen when one moved dns records to another host and then changed ip addresses almost immediately (before the host change propagated). It took over a week for that to settle and about 50% of users saw some sort of problems during that time. (Of course none of the devs did so we had trouble diagnosing it) The 103 address is the correct one I believe so google having the wrong address is troublesome but it may resolve itself. Here is another link which shows 103 being more popular. https://dnschecker.org/#A/pmulcahy.com so that give me hope. Edit; Unfortunately as Pauls site is hosted on a multi site server you cant simply go to the IP address. There are tricks to get there, but before I go into instructions on changing your DNS provider or editing you local host files lets hope it resolves itself. |
Funny.
When I use Chrome I end up with the sewing shop. When I use IE I end up where I want to be. But the sewing shop reminds me of something. If SHTF /T2k then it would be good if you had skill in sewing. Long ago there was this storyline on Batman, where Gotham was thrown out of the USA. And there the people who wanted to live in an area controlled and protected by a certain gang had to tell the gang what skills they had. In the first picture was a mechanic. He was given a bicycle to repair. When he did, he was allowed to stay and given food. In the second picture was an old lady who could sew. After she repaired some clothes she was allowed to stay and given food. In the third there was a social worker who made people understand other people. The following picture was not clear. Either he was given a kick in his backside or he was impaled. I go for the second solution, because there was a note attached to his bottom telling everybody that this area was forbidden to all not of this gang. So learn something useful or be turned into something useful. |
I get Laura's sewing studio on both chrome and IE
My guess is that the static IPs attached to this account experienced and one or more of the IPs where assigned to a new package before they could be recovered. |
Please post working URL: so we can update our links :D

Worked this morning and just now. And while we have Paul's attention: Have you ever considered the melee weapon capacity of an entrenching tool? If "All Quiet on the Western Front" can be believed, it is a formidable weapon. Another source I came across, a plaque in our Soldiers' Grove park behind the Penna Capitol Building, tells of an American Korean War soldier who was decorated for actions taken while all the rest of his unit was incapacitated. He kept up rifle fire until out of ammo, then waited for the enemy to creep up an pop their head over the embrasure--when each did, the soldier killed him with his entrenching tool. And he got quite a few this way--nine seems to stick in my mind, but I may not be remembering clearly. From my own use of WW2 GI entrenching tool while camping and yard-working, I have come to the conclusion that I wouldn't feel unarmed while wielding it. |
Hmm, getting redirected there now too. Trying to go directly to a particular page gets me a 404 error.
 |
Whatever is happening it is getting worse. I also now direct to the sewing site.
Some information. The two IPs are on the same class B subnet so they are probably hosted by the same company. The DNS was last properly populated on April 28th. Something might have changed on that date. The domain is registered until 2019 so probably something related to hosting. Generally when DNS changes are done on purpose the maximum time it takes to for even the most backwater ISPs to get the change is 48 hours (90% usually get it in 4 hours). The fact that this is partial and slower than that, indicates some type of configuration error to me. Paul last logged in on Monday so he might not be aware of the issue. Short term fix for windows users If you navigate to the following file (you may have to allow you system to view hidden/system files) C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts right click and edit with notepad and add the lines 199.204.248.103 pmulcahy.com 199.204.248.103 www.pmulcahy.com then save. This manually tells your computer to ignore DNS entries for a particular website and use the address provided, I had to shift f5 refresh to get the new page. If that doesnt work restart your browser. |
I really hope Paul gets some sort of compensation for the issue. If it was a business website, he could have been out significant revenue...
Wonder how many other sites are also effected? |
Yes, I got my domain name taken over. Now that I know it is nothing personal (so to speak), I was able to get Yahoo, Godaddy (who I buy my domain from, and which is registered until 2021), and stellar performance from Jumpline (my web host) -- and the threat of legal action to the claim-jumper, who stupidly put her name, phone number, and email address on her site, seems to have done the trick.
She, if legitimate, is just as much a victim as I am. But I didn't feel like being nice about it. If anything's missing, or there are any remnants of her site you notice, let me know. Most of you know my email address or can contact me through this board. My email is already on the front page (as a BMP, don't try to click on it.) |

Seems to still be a problem from my perspective. Guessing it will take a while to come good again?
|
It's here:
http://www.pmulcahy.com/equipment/tools.html Under Entrenching Tool, and I did do both older and modern E-Tools. |
